🥩 LAST NIGHT’S MEAT RAFFLE & THIS WEEK AT THE DALE 🍻

Well… another Sunday, another evening of excitement, suspense, celebration and at least one shattered dream.

Congratulations to all of our lucky winners who walked away with some cracking cuts from Anthony at Wellingtons. Plenty of quality meat heading home with happy customers.

Unfortunately for serial winner Glyn, the wheel finally stopped spinning in his favour and he failed to get his hands on any meat this week. Witnesses report he took the disappointment bravely. Mostly.

Meanwhile, Glyndar the Wise found himself facing a crucial decision. Having secured a mighty gammon joint, he wisely chose not to gamble it on the mystery box.

A decision that looked very sensible right up until Jo walked away with the box… and its glorious pineapple.

The highs. The lows. The drama.

We’re also pleased to report that The Dale has now fully recovered from Saturday’s Caribbean festivities. A huge thank you to Ryan from Spectrum Entertainment UK who absolutely smashed it. It’s not often a DJ gets asked for an encore in a village pub, but Ryan managed it.

And somehow we’re already into the last full week of June.

The big yellow thing in the sky appears to have defeated a few people, but we’ll power through in true Dale fashion:

Hosted by the motley crew of Mr P and Graham. A combination that fills us all with equal parts confidence and concern.

Instruments at the ready. Lyrics at the ready. Excuses for missed notes already prepared.

☀️🍺 Friday – Business as usual for those enjoying the sunshine on the famous Dale steps.

🏆⚽ Saturday – England vs Panama– 10pm
Cool enough by then to pack the pub out and cheer England on into the early hours.

🎟️🥩 Sunday – Meat Raffle – 7pm
The drama returns.

🌴🍹 WHAT A NIGHT AT THE DALE 🍹🌴

The shirts were loud.
The music was loud.
And the Bahama Mamas absolutely flew out.

A special mention to poor Tash, who spent the entire evening making Piña Coladas. If you like Piña Coladas… chances are she made one for you. By the end of the night Rupert Holmes was practically on the payroll.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces alongside plenty of new ones enjoying the atmosphere.

Big thanks to the bar team for battling through a busy night, to Nash for the amazing Goat Curry (which I’m reliably informed was exceptional), and to Graham for yet another cracking buffet.

Most importantly, thank you all for making it such a great night. Although looking around this morning, it may take a little while to put the pub back together.

🌴🍹 THE COALBROOKDALE INDIES – TONIGHT FROM 7PM 🍹🌴

Well…

It’s meant to be hotter than Satan’s air fryer, half of Ironbridge maybe hiding in beer gardens, and common sense says nobody should be attempting rum punch, reggae and questionable dance moves in a Victorian pub in Shropshire.

Which is exactly why we’re doing it.

Tonight The Dale goes full Caribbean.

DJ Ryan is back behind the decks, the rum is standing by, and for one evening Coalbrookdale will be approximately 4,300 miles closer to Jamaica than normal.

So if you’re sat at home wondering what to do this evening, stop being silly.

Put on the loud shirt you’ve been too embarrassed to wear since 2019, round up your mates, and head down to The Dale

Most of the beer gardens will be packed so you might as well come somewhere with decent music, cold drinks and a far lower chance of getting stuck behind a family of six trying to decide what flavour ice cream they want.

Worst case scenario, you have a few drinks and a laugh.

Best case scenario, by 11pm you’re explaining to complete strangers why you definitely could have made it as a reggae superstar if life had gone slightly differently.

📡🍻 A BIG THANK YOU 🍻📡

Yesterday’s Sky/Wi-Fi outage left us without card payments, till systems, music and most modern technology from midday until nearly 10pm.

For almost 10 hours we were running on cash, pen, paper and blind optimism until everything finally burst back into life during the second half of England’s cracking win.

Despite the chaos, the pub was packed, the atmosphere was brilliant, and you lot took it all in good humour.

A huge thank you to everyone who stuck with us through the technical gremlins. It was a good reminder that when the technology packs up, a proper community pub can still keep going.

🇯🇲🌴 And don’t forget… this Saturday from 7pm it’s Coalbrookdale Indies. DJ Ryan returns with the tunes, the rum will be flowing, and the Caribbean vibes will be arriving in the Gorge.

One thing that won’t be returning is the bucking bronco.

Apparently someone is still suffering from PTSD.

Any guesses for what “T” stands for, but we’re fairly confident it isn’t “Tranquillity.”

Every week brave men and women part with their hard-earned pounds in pursuit of glorious meaty prizes, only to immediately abandon all common sense and gamble them on the mystery box.
