And yes... we've taken a few creative liberties with the theming this year. 😄

Expect "Father-Sized Roast Dinners & Mains", the opportunity to "Treat Dad to a Side!", and plenty of delicious options for dads, grandads, father figures and anyone who simply appreciates a good Sunday lunch.

Having had a sneaky look through the menu ourselves, we're rather intrigued by the Greek Salad – THE STAR Way (for £9.00). Is this a hint of things to come from the upcoming Summer Menu? We couldn't possibly say... 👀☀️

Of course, if you're asking us, it's hard to look beyond one of Dave's famous roasts with all the trimmings. After all, Father's Day only comes around once a year!

With Father's Day coming up this Sunday (21st June), we thought we'd share a rather special photograph from the archives...

Featuring a much younger Dave alongside his dad — affectionately known by us as "Papa STAR" ❤️

Now, before anyone says anything, we'd all appreciate it if you could overlook Dave's considerably younger, somewhat less ro'tund appearance. Time, good food and a life spent around pubs have a habit of changing a man! 😄

Joking aside, family has always been at the heart of THE STAR. From fathers and sons to mothers and daughters, generations of families have passed through these doors over the years, creating memories, sharing meals and celebrating life's special moments together.

So here's to all the dads, grandads, stepdads, father figures and mentors who make a difference every day.

Today we’re raising a glass at THE STAR as we celebrate Beer Day Britain 🍻🇬🇧

Created in 2015 by award-winning beer sommelier, broadcaster and writer Jane Peyton, Beer Day Britain is all about celebrating the country’s incredible brewing heritage, brilliant pubs, and the communities built around them.

And honestly… what better place to enjoy it than right here in West Leake? 💛 Beer Day Britain

Whether it’s a pint after a countryside walk, a relaxed evening in the garden, or pairing your favourite beer with something delicious from The Pit House Restaurant, today feels like the perfect excuse to slow down and enjoy the simple pleasures of a great British pub.

As Jane Peyton herself said: “Without beer, pubs would be wine bars!” 😄

So here’s to good beer, good food, good company… and keeping the spirit of the local pub alive.

Proof, if proof were ever needed, that Dave and Trev do occasionally get released from the kitchen... 🤘🎸

With Download Festival taking place just down the road this weekend, a few of The STAR gang headed over to enjoy some live music, sunshine and a well-earned day out.

Pictured left to right are Trev (Dave's trusty Sous Chef), Alex (Trev's beaut better half), Dave himself, and Zach, who many of you will remember from his time working here at The STAR.

This is, we're told, the "before" photograph.

When asked for the "after" photograph, Dave's response was:

"The after picture isn't anywhere near as flattering. I think I possibly died overnight."

We're choosing to believe he's merely been misplaced in a field somewhere near Donington Park and will eventually find his way back to West Leake... 😄

Joking aside, one thing we love about being part of this area is seeing our team, friends, family, customers and former staff all out and about enjoying the fantastic events happening on our doorstep. From village fêtes and local walks to major events like Download, it's great to see people making the most of everything the area has to offer.

Here's hoping everyone who's been to Download has had a brilliant weekend, made some memories, and is recovering well today!

As for Dave and Trev... we'll know they've survived if lunch service starts on time. 🍻

We will be open tomorrow from 10am until 5pm (last entry 4pm)

We have a huge amount of strawberries waiting to be picked. They’re looking amazing so if you require large quantities please come now!!

The tractor 🚜 will be running, the mini ferris wheel 🎡 and inflatable slide 🛝 will be open and we’ll also have slush 🥤ice cream 🍨 freshly made doughnuts 🍩 and fresh Vine Farm Dairy cream available too.

🍓£3 entry fee per person (15+) (redeemable against fruit purchases only)

🍓Please do not eat the fruit before paying for it.

It's Download Festival weekend once again 🤘☀️

And while the stages, campsites and crowds over at Donington Park will be getting ready for another huge weekend of music, here at THE STAR we're looking forward to something a little different...

Welcoming back some familiar faces.

Over the years, we've been lucky enough to build up our own little Download family. Guests who return year after year, book their rooms well in advance, and by now feel more like old friends than customers. You know who you are ❤️

One of the nicest things about Download is seeing just how far people travel to be here, and hearing stories from those who've made attending the festival part of their annual tradition. We're always delighted when THE STAR gets to play a small part in that.

So whether you're staying with us, heading to the festival each day, travelling through the area, or simply enjoying the atmosphere that Download brings to North West Leicestershire, we hope you have a fantastic weekend. || Explore Forest and Beyond

And for anyone looking for a quieter moment between the guitars, crowds and headline acts, our garden is open, the drinks are cold, and lunch and dinner are being served as usual. 🌿🍻
