We're now recruiting for our Food & Beverage Service Skills Course starting this September, and we're looking for enthusiastic young people ready to build confidence, learn new skills, and take their first step into the exciting world of hospitality.

🌟 It was a pleasure to welcome staff, students and members of the local community to the City Bistro for an Interfaith Lunch, hosted by the Sunderland Interfaith Forum as part of the Eden Project Big Lunch.

Guests came together to enjoy great food, share experiences and build connections across different faiths, cultures and backgrounds.

A huge thank you to our talented students and the staff, who prepared and served a fantastic buffet, helping to make the event a memorable success. 👏🍽️

🌟 End of Year Recap – Thank You & Best Wishes 🌟

As the academic year comes to a close, we would like to thank all of our customers for your continued support. Your encouragement has helped make this another successful year for our students.

This year:
We launched The Deli with our Level 1 students,
Continued our successful Bistro service with our Level 2 students, We launched Beacon with our Level 3 students.
We are delighted that all three ventures were a great success.

Our students also took part in competitions, completed work placements, and some even progressed into employment opportunities.

We are incredibly proud of everything our students have achieved this year and would like to thank everyone who supported them along the way.

The last Beacon service of the year.

A season of menus written and rewritten. Produce arriving at the back door. Tastings, discussions, supplier visits and the occasional change of plan.

Twenty covers, every Thursday.

Over the past months we've spent time with exceptional produce from the North East, cooking through the seasons and exploring the ideas, ingredients and techniques that shape great restaurants.

Thank you to the students who brought Beacon to life. An exceptional group to work with, whose commitment, curiosity and standards set the tone from the very beginning.

Thank you also to everyone who joined us at the table. For your support, your feedback and for placing your trust in a new restaurant finding its feet.

And finally, thank you to the pig, which somehow found its way onto every menu.

For now, the lights are off, the notebooks are full, and the planning starts again.

Today was the final Deli service from our Level 1 Catering & Hospitality students.

We are incredibly proud of the progress, hard work, and commitment they have shown throughout the year. Their confidence and skills have grown so much, and it has been fantastic to watch their journey.

A huge thank you to the City Campus staff, customers, Learning Mentors Deb and Joanne, Bistro Head Chef Geoff, and
lecturer Simon for their support throughout the year—we are incredibly grateful for everything you have done to help make this project a success.

As the year comes to an end, some students will be returning to continue their
studies, while others are moving on to new opportunities. We wish them all the very best for the future.

Now it’s time to finalise portfolios, celebrate at our internal awards, and get ready for a well-deserved summer break. ☀️👏

The Deli will reopen in September with a new group of students, and we look forward to welcoming you back then!

Beacon

We are delighted to announce that all available spaces for our upcoming Beacon Evening Services have now been fully booked.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us and made reservations. We are incredibly grateful for the enthusiasm shown towards our student-led dining experience.

If any cancellations become available, we will contact guests on our waiting list. We also have more exciting evening services planned as we approach the end of the academic year.
