This Thursday we’re due to welcome our friends from Poulton Hill Estate to The Old Stocks for an evening dedicated to brilliant English w**e produced just down the road from us.

It’ll be relaxed, informal and a chance to taste your way through a selection of Poulton Hill w**es while hearing more about the vineyard, how the w**es are made and what makes English w**e quite so exciting right now.

But we need 8 more people around the table for the evening to go ahead.

Meet the sheep behind our September cocktail… 🐑

Our General Manager Charlotte recently swapped the bar for Black Lion Farm in Blockley to meet the very special sheep behind one of our most unusual local spirits.

is made right here in the Cotswolds from sheep’s milk, and Charlotte got to see where it all begins, getting stuck into feeding, cleaning and, most importantly, plenty of cuddles. 🐑

Supporting local matters to us, and we think when good things are made locally, they taste better too.😋

We’re incredibly happy to share that The Old Stocks Inn has been named a Tripadvisor Travellers’ Choice 2026 winner, placing us in the top 10% of Tripadvisor listings worldwide.

You’ve watched us taste the w**es… now it’s your turn.

After four weeks of taking you behind the scenes at Poulton Hill, we’re bringing the tasting back to The Old Stocks.

Join us on Thursday 1st October at 7.30pm for an evening with the team from Poulton Hill, getting to know this award-winning Cotswold w**e producer and, most importantly, tasting the w**es.

Sparkling, whites, reds and rosés will all be poured, accompanied by canapés from The Old Stocks kitchen and a little insight into our own food ethos too.

Whether you know your English w**es or simply really enjoy drinking them, this is a relaxed chance to taste, learn, ask questions and enjoy a very good evening.

Tickets are £45 per person and there are just 20 places available, so booking ahead is essential.

There’s nothing better than a day exploring the Cotswolds with your four-legged companion, especially when you know there’s a lovely lunch waiting at the end of it.

We’re lucky to have a team who know Stow and the surrounding Cotswolds really well, so we’re always happy to share the places we love, from relaxed lunches to good coffee, beautiful walks and little local spots worth knowing about.

Somewhere between the first drink and the last bite, dinner becomes more than just dinner. 🥰

Behind the scenes, Ian and our kitchen brigade are busy working with the seasons, creating dishes from good produce and putting their own Old Stocks twist on things.

Then it’s time to pull up a chair, settle in and enjoy it.

So if you’re in Stow this week, make an evening of it. Have a wander around the village, come through our doors and stay for dinner.

Our restaurant is open from 6pm.

THE FOURTH POUR: finally, the tasting.

After exploring the vineyard and seeing what goes into making Poulton Hill w**es, there was only one thing left to do… taste them.

We sampled the Arlington White, Red and Rosé alongside the Bulari sparkling white and rosé — with Charlotte particularly taken by the 2021 vintage Bulari and those delicious toasty, brioche notes.

What struck us throughout our visit was just how hands-on Natalie and Gabriella are. From growing the grapes and tending the vines to making and blending the w**es, tastings and events, they’re involved every step of the way.

And now, they’re bringing a little bit of Poulton Hill to us.

On Thursday 1st October, join Poulton Hill in the Front Room at the Old Stocks for an intimate evening of w**e tasting, paired with canapés from the Old Stocks kitchen.
