Fight back against entrenched beauty standards!

This is a ling.

It might not win many glamour contests and it doesn’t appear on menus nearly as often as cod or haddock, but don’t let appearances fool you.

Ling is a member of the cod family, locally caught, and a fantastic fish to eat. Despite its eel-like appearance, the flesh is firm, meaty and succulent, with large flakes and a texture somewhere between cod and monkfish. It’s a fish that deserves far more attention than it gets.

This one is currently marinating in buttermilk and spices, ready to be coated in our Southern Fried coating and served as a cheaper alternative to our Southern Fried Monkfish.

Today’s mixed tempura includes:
• Lemon sole
• Hand-dived scallops
• Local langoustines
• Haddock

Blue Man Seafood is back open this Friday and Saturday.
Fresh seafood, hand-dived scallops, chowder, tempura, monkfish and our Blue Man salads, which this week will include locally grown rocket and nasturtiums. We've also managed to get hold of some lovely Scottish Jersey Royals for the potato salad.
As the growing season starts to gather pace, we'll be bringing more and more locally grown salads, herbs and edible flowers onto the menu whenever they're available.
It's been a really busy start to the season, and we're delighted to see so many familiar faces returning, while also making plenty of new friends along the way. We're hugely grateful to everyone who supports us with their custom, and to everyone who supports us online by sharing, recommending and following what we do.
From this weekend we'll also be joined by another experienced pair of hands helping full-time in the trailer. Pre-ordering is still the best way to guarantee your food and collection time, but we're hoping the extra help will mean we can look after everyone a little more smoothly during the busiest periods.

🦀 From the boat to your plate (takeaway box👀)

Bringing in fresh crab, cooking it, cooling it, and then spending hours carefully picking every claw by hand.
All of that work goes into one of our favourite dishes: our Blue Man Crab Cakes.

Made with hand-picked local crab, ginger, lime, coriander and Thai flavours, then served with our carrot & sesame salad, Blue Man chilli sauce and mango relish.

It's a lot of work, but when the crab is this good, it's worth every minute.

This weekend, we’ve taken in an absolutely stunning range of seafood... haddock, turbot, John Dory, lemon sole, megrim, plaice, ling, scallops, langoustines, mussels.

All of it will be making appearances on the menu and at the trailer over the weekend.

Our chowder is never boring. Packed with a constantly changing mix of fresh fish, smoked fish, and shellfish we’ve got in at the time. No two batches are quite the same.

🍤 Mixed Tempura

If variety’s your thing, this is the one. As always, served with our chips, Blue Man salad, and our chilli, lime & coriander mayo, but instead of one fish, you’ll get a rotating selection of tempura seafood.

Usually 3 to 4 different choices, but this weekend, more likely 5 or even 6.

Think turbot, scallops, langoustines, sole, haddock and whatever else looks too good not to fry.
