The pressures facing hospitality are real, and yesterday we were grateful for the chance to talk about the headwinds our industry faces.

Tom Morrison, MP for Cheadle, asked to meet our directors because he wanted to hear directly from people in hospitality about the challenges we're up against. Joining Tom were James and Doug Almond, The Station House general manager Zac, and Niall McCloskey from Joseph Holt.

Over lunch at The Station House, we set out how hard the current climate makes it for businesses like ours to plan ahead, asked for clarity on the changes to business rates, and championed the campaign for a fairer rate of VAT for hospitality.

Pubs support thousands of local jobs and hold communities together - we're thankful to Tom for taking the time to listen to our concerns, as we would be to anyone working to help our industry.

🎉 Big congratulations to two brilliant members of our Puss in Boots team!

We're delighted to announce that Jo has been promoted to Senior Assistant Manager, and Chris steps up to Assistant Manager.

If you've spent any time at all in the Puss, you'll be well aware that both are at the heart of making the pub what it is - and these promotions couldn't be more deserved. Next time you're in, give them a well-earned cheers. Join us in wishing them both a huge congratulations!

What a day for Stockport!

3,000 runners took part in the inaugural Stockport 10k yesterday, with each and every one doing the town proud. We were happy to support them in our own way, with hundreds of runners taking us up on the reward of a free drink to celebrate when they showed their medal.

Congratulations to all the runners, and thanks for letting us be a part of this special day: we hope to see you again for another race day in 2027 🏃‍➡️ 🏃‍♀️‍➡️ 🏃‍♂️‍➡️

On Monday 10th August, nine members of the Almond Family Pubs team are taking our fundraising to new heights - because they'll be jumping out of a plane! And it's all for Foundation for Prader-Willi Research UK.

We'll be joining Black Knights Skydiving to plummet from 15,000 feet (the highest you can do!) over Lancaster - and we'll need all your support in the lead up to the big day.

FPWR UK is a charity close to all of our hearts, and we're closing in on £200k raised over the past 15 years.

An update about our entertainment on Wednesday...

Given that there's a big game on, we thought it best to postpone our usual Wednesday night entertainment, and replace it with a screening of the semi final. We've got limited walk-up space for England vs Argentina in our bar area: it'll be nice family vibes, so all are welcome: viewing space is at a premium so get here early if you need a seat. Please note, we're unable to make reservations.

We'll be serving food and drink as usual throughout the day and into the evening, inside and out. As the skywriter says: come on, England!
