It’s International Dog Day! I couldn’t waste this opportunity to show you some of my favourite Horse Shoe pup pics from over the last 18 months…

Swipe to see some of the cutest pictures I’ve ever taken,

A reminder we are (good) dog-friendly! Bring your pups in for a pint and something from our Sir Woofchester menu!

And please feel free to pop your own pictures in the comments, additional recognition if these are taken within the pub!

Finally… is it just me or did that break feel like forever?!

We’re back to normality at The Shoe — and we’re the only pub in the village showing live sport, with 4 TVs and 2 Sky boxes meaning we can have multiple games on at once. If there’s something you want to watch, just ask us behind the bar!

⚽️ Friday: Arsenal v Coventry – 8pm

⚽️ Saturday: Man United v Hull City – 12:30pm
🏎️ Dutch GP Qualifying – 3pm
⚽️ Brentford v Tottenham – 5:30pm
🎸 Adam Smikle LIVE – 8pm! A firm favourite here at The Shoe and always a cracking night.

Then Sunday… 🏎️ Dutch Grand Prix and ⚽️ Man City v Bournemouth, both from 2pm.

🍴 Food served Friday & Saturday 12–8pm

And if you’re joining us for the City game on Sunday, why not make an afternoon of it with one of our proper Sunday roasts? Food bookings advised — tables for drinks and the football are first come, first served.

Sport, live music, good food and a few pints. Back to normal! 🍻

I thought I’d use this Monday morning post to highlight another amazing local business, Sugar Tiers

Did you know we have a cake shed right on our doorstep here in High Lane?!

The lovely Jennifer at Sugar tiers brought all the staff some goodies to try out and, as you can probably imagine, they went down an absolute treat! My personal favourite was the Millionaires Shortbread and Charlotte’s was the White Chocolate & Raspberry Cake Pot 😋

You can find the Sugar Tiers Cake Shed at 82 Cromley Road, High Lane, SK6 8BU. It’s stocked with plenty of sweet treats and you can pay by contactless or cash right there in the shed.

What a great little gem to have in our village! I know where I’ll be heading next time I get a sweet tooth…

Thank you again, Jennifer ❤️

And as always, we want to keep showing off the brilliant independent businesses we have around High Lane and the surrounding areas — tag a local business below that you think we should highlight next! 👇

We’ve got a cracking couple of days of live sport and music starting today:

3pm – Stockport County v Plymouth
County’s first away league game of the season and certainly a tough one – live on the TVs so we can all watch along!

3.45pm – Man United v AC Milan
United’s final friendly of pre-season against Amorim’s old side.

🎶 Then from 8pm tonight, Matt Papillon joins us for live music, bringing a bit of everything – pop, rock, country and Motown, from the 60s right through to today.

🍽️ Food served Friday & Saturday, 12–8pm.

Then tomorrow we’re back with Sunday dinners from 12–6pm – perfect for soaking up Saturday night – plus Man City v Arsenal in the Community Shield at 3pm.

Sunday bookings are definitely advised. We’ll always try our best with walk-ins, but we can’t promise a table if we’re busy.

See you over the weekend! 🍻

Local business spotlight 🐾

Recently I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the amazing Annette from The Dog Shop, High Lane. This little shop of goodies for our four-legged friends is an absolute treasure to the village!

Annette is always happy to have a chat about anything you need to know when it comes to caring for your pooch. Whether it’s dietary advice, finding the right treats or anything else, she’s always happy to try and help.

You’ll find her tucked away on Chocolate St Square, right next to Oli & Simon Dunn — so you can treat your pooch and your partner by grabbing some chocolate while you’re there!

We’re also really pleased to say that going forward, we’ll be getting our house dog treats directly from Annette and The Dog Shop, so even our four-legged customers can be sure they’re getting only the best when they visit us. 🐶

Thank you Annette — it’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you and, more importantly, having a good old laugh with you!

We’d love to make our Local Business Spotlight a regular feature and show off some of the brilliant independent businesses we have around us. If you’re a local business and fancy working with us in some way, feel free to drop us a message or comment below.

And tag a local business you think we should spotlight next! 👇

It looks a great day for it! Is there anything better than beer garden day drinking?👀

We will also be joined by Remembering Jordan Everett 2025 for some free pebble painting in the sun, it’s fun, therapeutic and it’s for an amazing cause❤️

See you all soon!

This Saturday we’re doing something a little different…

We’re officially launching our brand new menu later on this month, and we’d love you to come and taste some of the dishes we will be bringing onto it and give us some feedback.

We’ll be bringing around complimentary tasters throughout the afternoon so you can be among the first to try some of our new dishes. We’ve kept everything that makes our menu what it is, but with a bigger focus on fresh, homemade pub food, lighter options, less fried, more vegetarian and vegan choices, and a little less of the heavy stuff.

To make a day of it, we’ve got two brilliant local musicians joining us. James Carrol Jr. kicks things off at 1pm (always a favourite here at the Horse Shoe), before Oliver Vawdrey takes over from 3:30pm. If you’ve seen either of them before, you’ll know you’re in for a great afternoon.

If the sun’s out we’ll be making the most of the beer garden. If the weather has other ideas, we’ll simply move everything inside, although space will be a little more limited, so we’d recommend getting down early.

We can’t wait to share the new menu with you all. See you on Saturday! 🍻

It’s always great to hear that we’re building exactly what we envisioned when we moved into the village. Great food that you can bring the family in for, whilst still remaining a top local boozer. Somewhere you can watch all the sport, enjoy a great pint, be welcomed by friendly staff and feel part of the community. That’s exactly what we’re aiming for every single day.

If you’ve visited us before (or visit us regularly!) and haven’t already, we’d really appreciate it if you could leave us a Google review. They help us massively by showing Google that we’re a pub worth recommending to others.

You can leave one here:

A massive thank you to all of our amazing locals and everyone who continues to support us. We genuinely couldn’t do it without you. ❤️
