Not every day a 5 metre puppet gets paraded through St David's!

What a fantastic evening! ✨

Tonight's procession marked the beginning of Carreg Filltir Las: Taith yr Arglwydd Rhys, a special celebration commemorating 850 years since Lord Rhys hosted the first National Eisteddfod in 1176.

The giant puppet represents Lord Rhys, one of Wales' most influential medieval rulers, who is remembered for bringing together poets, musicians and storytellers in a celebration of Welsh culture that would eventually evolve into the Eisteddfod we know today.

Seeing him "awaken" at the Cathedral and make his way through the city was a truly memorable sight, and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying the music, atmosphere and community spirit throughout the evening.

Thank you to everyone who popped into The Brunch House for a drink and helped make it such a special night. ❤️

✨ Happening in St Davids this evening ✨

If you're heading into town for the spectacular Carreg Filltir Las celebrations, we're delighted to let you know that The Brunch House will be staying open this evening for drinks.

Watch the 5-metre-tall puppet of Lord Rhys awaken at St Davids Cathedral before making its way through the city, then enjoy an evening of free live music at Oriel y Parc featuring Mari Mathias, Lowri Evans, Ceri Wyn Jones and Eddie Ladd.

Pop in, grab a drink, and soak up the atmosphere with us. ☕🍷🥤 Croeso cynnes i bawb – a warm welcome to all.

*New Special*

With just around the corner it seems like the perfect time to introduce our new special. Plump British strawberries macerated in the most delicious Modena Balsamic vinegar, served on our brioche French Toast with vanilla cream cheese, homemade shortbread crumb and fresh basil. Divine!

We tried two different ways of plating it today. Which do you prefer? A or B?

*MEET THE OWNERS* 👋

Bore da! We’re Hannah & Adam — the people behind The Brunch House ☕️🥞

In 2018, Hannah swapped Preston for Pembrokeshire to take a huge leap into hospitality with her first restaurant, 35 Main Street.

What started as a career change quickly turned into a full-blown obsession with good food, great coffee and creating places people genuinely love spending time in.

Adam joined in 2021 as manager, bringing years of experience from the Cardiff restaurant scene, and somewhere between chaotic services, brunch specials, flat whites, shared ambition, having a baby and selling 35 Main Street, The Brunch House was born ✨

These days, Adam is usually in the kitchen cooking up delectable brunches, while Hannah splits her time between cheffing, running the business side of things and constantly dreaming up new menu ideas, seasonal specials and ways to make The Brunch House feel that little bit different.

Brunch has always been the heart of it all for us. We love the creativity of it, the comfort of it, the social side of it. The catch-ups over coffee, the “shall we get one more thing for the table?” moments, the slow mornings that turn into afternoons 😌

Everything at The Brunch House is built around that feeling: big flavours, good ingredients, proper coffee and a space that feels warm, welcoming and a little bit indulgent in the best way.

Independent hospitality definitely isn’t always glamorous; there are long days, early starts and a lot happening behind the scenes, but getting to build something we’re genuinely passionate about makes it all worth it.

Whether you’re one of our regulars, a takeaway coffee grabber, a pancake lover or someone who’s just discovered us online — thank you for supporting our little brunch dream ❤️
