At Aurum, our cuisine celebrates the best of Essex and the UK and is located in the heart of Southend-on-Sea. Our 70 seater restaurant is open all day for breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, and dinner. We take care to collaborate with local suppliers and producers to preserve their traditions and heritage. We follow the cycle of the seasons to bring regional cuisine and, hopefully, preserve what Nat

ure intended. We constantly source and develop our ingredients and techniques to bring high-quality, fresh, and flavourful dishes to our table. Our menu at Aurum uses the best of the season’s produce and is locally sourced. We aim for it to be a combination of refined gastronomy with delicious flavour but, importantly, for it to be healthy, balanced, and exciting for the eye, as well as the palate. Sit back in elegance and watch the world on Clifton Terrace go by, whatever the season with views of the Thames Estuary. A little something different for June.

On Friday 26th June, we’re hosting our Pan-Asian Tasting Night at Aurum.
Five courses, taking in flavours from Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia, with dishes including kombu-cured tuna, king prawn with gochujang, miso black cod, beef short rib with rendang, and mango with coconut to finish.

It’s a menu we’ve been working on quietly, and one we’re really looking forward to serving.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our sold-out Indian tasting night at Aurum.
A brilliant evening, full of flavour, warmth and a little journey through India, from the first course to the last. The kitchen put so much care into each dish, and it was lovely to see the restaurant full and the atmosphere buzzing.
We really appreciate everyone who came along and supported the night.

A carefully chosen bottle for those who enjoy something a little more considered.

At Aurum, our wine list has been built with the same attention as our menus, bringing together distinctive bottles that are not commonly found across Southend. Each wine is selected for character, quality and how it sits alongside our food.

Château d’Arcole Saint-Émilion Grand Cru is a beautiful biodynamic Bordeaux from France, rich on the nose with intense aromas of black fruits, depth and elegance. A wine with structure, warmth and a quietly luxurious finish.
