Severn Trent 💧 have done it again..
Yet another unannounced road closure and water outage affecting our road – this time starting yesterday, with still no clear end in sight.
This is at least the 5th time works have been carried out on this road with no advance notice, no “Business as Usual” signage, and no meaningful communication whatsoever. When we contacted your team, we received conflicting, contradictory information: first we were told this was emergency work – explaining the lack of notice – only to be told by a second person that it was in fact planned work. That same person had to check the government website to find out what their own team was doing – if your staff don’t know the details of works on our road through your website, what chance do we, as local businesses, have?
We have no water at all – unable to serve customers coffee, or trade at our usual level and the campsite have been left with no drinking water, showers or toilets that flush. When we asked for basic details: when will the water be restored? When will the road reopen? – we were met with, no answers, and no information.
As a small business, we simply cannot survive this way. We rely on being able to open our doors, serve our community, and plan ahead. Advance notice is not a luxury – it is essential for us. When works are planned, we need time to adjust opening hours, inform customers, arrange alternatives, and minimise the financial damage. Instead, we are blindsided – again and again – with zero warning, conflicting explanations, and zero accountability.
We deserve better. We demand better.
We have an open legal complaint with CCW against Severn Trent and this will be added to the long list of complaints against them
