We are proud to join The Food Foundation and more than 100 organisations calling on the Government to extend Healthy Start to all families receiving Universal Credit until children turn five.

🫘🥕 Hello September… and hello Snack-tember! 🥒💚

This month we're joining the British Nutrition Foundation in celebrating – encouraging children to EXPLORE better snacking, TRY new foods and MAKE healthy snacks!

And as proud Bang in Some Beans Promoters, we couldn't resist choosing the BNF's Beany Dip & Crunchy Veg as our Little Lunches Snack-tember special. 🫘

Throughout September, our nursery partners can choose to:

👩‍🍳 MAKE IT – we'll provide all the ingredients and a recipe card so little ones can get involved in preparing, exploring and tasting the snack themselves.

🥕 TRY IT – we'll make the Beany Dip and prepare the crunchy veg in the Little Lunches kitchen, ready for the children to tuck into!

It's a brilliant opportunity to introduce more vegetables, beans and pulses, explore different flavours and textures, and get little ones involved with food from an early age. 🌈

Here’s to a September full of curious little taste buds and plenty of BEANS! 🫘💚

🫘 We’ve always been full of beans at Little Lunches! 💚

Beans and pulses are an integral part of our menus - blended into pasta sauces and soups, packed into curries and chillies, used in our veggie alternatives, and served as sides, toppings and ingredients across lots of our dishes.

They’re a fantastic source of fibre, plant-based protein, vitamins and minerals, while also helping introduce little ones to a variety of flavours and textures from an early age. 🌱 So it’s no wonder they’re a regular feature on our menus!

And as part of our Bang in Some Beans pledge, we’ve bean busy thinking up even more dishes featuring beans and pulses for our upcoming menu changeover… 👀🫘💚

🫖🍓 It’s Afternoon Tea Week… Little Lunches style! 🥪🍎

When you hear afternoon tea, you might picture tiered cake stands, scones with jam & cream and dainty little sandwiches… at Little Lunches, we do things a little differently! 💚

Our nursery afternoon teas are designed especially for growing little ones, providing a nutritious, balanced and varied end to their nursery day.

Our menus are packed with flavour, with everything from curries, tacos, soups and pasta dishes to toasties, fresh fruit and yoghurt. 🌮🍝🥣🍓

This , we're celebrating afternoon tea Little Lunches style - yummy, nutritious and made for little tummies. 💚

Looking for a fun way to encourage little ones to try new foods?

We've been trying out this fantastic FREE game from Belly Bugs and think it's a brilliant way to help children explore different fruits and vegetables, eat the rainbow, and build confidence around new foods. We especially recommend it for parents of fussy eaters! 🌈🥕🍓

🫛 It's Great British Pea Week! 🫛

We're feeling pretty hap-pea to celebrate one of Britain's most nutritious little vegetables!

Did you know?
💚 A 100-calorie serving of peas contains more protein than a whole egg
🍏 One serving of peas contains as much vitamin C as two large apples
🌱 During the short six-week British harvesting season, an incredible 2 billion portions of peas are produced
🇬🇧 The UK is around 90% self-sufficient in pea production, so choosing peas is a great way to support British farmers and our home-grown food industry.

At Little Lunches, peas are a regular feature across our menus , whether they're served as a tasty side with our Carroty Mac & Cheese, or added to wholesome casseroles, curries and chillies.

We are about to make a BANG 💥
Thrilled to announce we are joining the campaign, with the mission of doubling UK bean consumption.
Alongside The Food Foundation and VegPowerUK , we're on a mission to get more beans on plates because they are incredible for our health, packed full of fibre and most importantly, they are absolutely delicious!

This year's theme, 'From Burden to Solutions: Safe Food Everywhere', highlights the importance of turning knowledge into action to reduce foodborne illness and improve health outcomes.

Safe food is especially important for young children. As the World Health Organization highlights, safe and nutritious food supports healthy growth, physical and intellectual development, and helps children thrive.
