A massive shout-out to Macka T who absolutely smashed it once again! 🎶🔥 As always, you had the whole place bouncing and created an incredible atmosphere from start to finish.

Betsy … you were absolutely phenomenal! 🤠🎤❤️

You had Strawbs singing, dancing, and smiling from start to finish. The atmosphere was electric, and what a vibe you all created! 💃🕺

It was also so lovely to welcome our Queenie Ruby Ann Mann and her lovely hubby Paul. We even managed to squeeze in a little dance behind the bar! 🤣❤️

We honestly can’t wait to welcome Betsy back in October for one of our Sunday Sessions… trust us, you won’t want to miss it! 🍻🎶

Episode 1 – The Great Aspall Explosion! 💥🍏

Welcome to Behind the Bar: Confessions of a Bar Manager – a weekly series proving that life in hospitality is never boring!

Yesterday I had to pop to the cellar to change an Aspall cider barrel. A routine job… until I realised I’d connected it but hadn’t twisted the lock fully into place.

The next thing I knew…

💥 BANG!

The coupler flew off and I got absolutely blasted with Aspall cider.

It was everywhere.

My hair… soaked.
My dress… soaked.
My face… soaked.

I had cider in my eyes and couldn’t see a thing, so I stood there in the cellar shouting…

“HELP! I CAN’T SEE!” 😂

A customer came running with tissues. As soon as I’d wiped my eyes and could finally see again, I looked up…

Every customer was desperately trying not to laugh.

Then a lovely elderly gentleman walked over with the biggest grin on his face.

I thought he was checking I was alright…

Instead he said,

“I just thought I’d let you know… your dress has gone completely see-through!” 😳🤣🙈

As he walked out, he turned around, smiled and shouted,

“Same time next Wednesday for Wet Dress Wednesday!” 😂🙈🙈

As if that wasn’t enough, customers kept asking me what perfume I was wearing because it smelled so nice.

I had to tell them,

“It’s not perfume… it’s Aspall cider!” 🍏🤣

To top it all off, I was working a double shift, so there was no going home for a shower or a change of clothes.

I spent the whole day sticky, soaked, smelling like a cider barrel… and apparently wearing the latest fragrance from Eau de Aspall! 😂🍏

Being a bar manager is glamorous… said no one ever! 🍻
