After the recent van incident, we’re pleased to say the new sign and strip light are now back up and working again 👍

Huge thanks to Wayne Elliott & Tom Noble for pulling it out the bag.

So no excuses this Easter weekend – you’ll be able to spot us nice and easily!

Right then… we’re back! 🍟🐟

Friday: 11:30–1:30 & 4:30–8:30
Saturday: 4:30–8:30

The new telegraph pole is finally in (RIP to the old one 😅), although the phone is still being diverted to my mobile… so if I sound slightly out of breath, I’m probably frying fish with one hand and answering calls with the other 📱

We’ve also smartened things up with some lovely new planters and flowers 🌼 — trying to pretend none of this ever happened!

Thanks again for all the support (and entertainment!) over the last few days — see you soon for your usual fix!

Well… that certainly wasn’t the 4am wake-up call we were expecting this morning.

Unfortunately a night-shift worker fell asleep at the wheel and ended up driving into the front of the shop. Thankfully both he and his passenger are absolutely fine, which is the most important thing.

Sadly the shop hasn’t fared quite so well. My planters have been damaged, the light for the sign has been knocked out, and worst of all my lovely illuminated sign (which is sadly irreplaceable) has been destroyed. The mains electric cable was also pulled out, so we are currently waiting for Northern Powergrid to dig it up and reconnect everything.

To add to the excitement, the telegraph pole was also taken out in the incident, so we currently have no phone line either.

Northern Powergrid have reassured me the power should be back on around 4pm, so I’m hoping we’ll still be able to open at 4.30pm today.

However, after a very long and stressful morning, we may close a little earlier than usual tonight (around 8.30pm) while we get everything sorted over the next few days.

If you were planning fish and chips tonight, we’d really appreciate your support — it would certainly help lift the spirits after today!
