A little look at what’s inspiring us for The Plough ✨

Warm fires, proper pub food, cosy corners, countryside views and that classic country pub feel we all know and love.

As we plan the refurbishment, we’re keeping one thing at the heart of it all creating a welcoming pub that feels full of character, comfortable and unmistakably The Plough.

This is the mood. Now we can’t wait to bring it to life.

The strip-out has officially begun! 👷‍♂️

A massive thank you to Dan Knaggs and John for getting stuck in and helping us strip The Plough out two huge skips filled already! 😅

Dan’s local to the pub and was more than happy to lend a hand, which we really appreciate. There’s plenty more work ahead, but it’s great to finally see things moving.

And yes… things got a little less serious towards the end 😂 swipe for proof!

Answering some of our most common questions about what’s happening at The Plough 👀

Yes, we’re now closed while the renovation gets underway, and there’s plenty planned over the coming months.

Swipe through for an update on what’s being renovated, when we’re hoping to reopen, and what you can expect from us in the meantime.

A little update from The Plough 🌿

Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who has followed the page, shared our posts and sent such lovely messages since we announced the new ownership. The support already has been brilliant and we really appreciate it.

Work is starting outside too, with the hedge in the b**r garden being trimmed right back to make the most of the space and, of course, those countryside views.

We’d also like to say a big thank you to our lovely neighbour, who owns the adjoining field and has very kindly lowered the hedge on their side too. It’s made such a difference already!

Plenty more to come as we continue getting The Plough ready for its next chapter. 🍻🌿

The keys are officially in our hands 🔑

A new chapter is beginning at The Plough, Sleights.

We’re now under new ownership and, for the time being, the doors will be closed while we prepare for a full renovation.

Our vision is to bring The Plough back to life as a proper countryside pub somewhere the local community can be proud to call their own, while also becoming a welcoming stop for those visiting Sleights, Whitby and the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside.

Think good food, good drinks, cosy fires, countryside charm and a warm welcome whether you live around the corner or you’re just passing through.

There’s plenty of work ahead, and we’d love to take you along for the journey from the plans and inspiration to the renovation itself and, eventually, reopening the doors.

Here’s to bringing The Plough back to life. 🍻
