Hello Everybody,

Whatโ€™s been happening with the weather recently? Well itโ€™s quite normal for this time of the year, warm days, very chilly nights and some welcome rain.

There was a very unusual result in the September 22nd quiz. Three teams tied for first place. The โ€œEmpty Nestersโ€, โ€œTeam Beltonโ€, and โ€œThe Soloistsโ€. Each scoring 114 points, well done to all three teams. The contestant chose quotes for the 1-2-1 question, that was,
โ€œWho said, โ€œIf you can dream it, you can do itโ€?" And the answer was, โ€œWalt Disneyโ€ Unfortunately the contestant gave the wrong answer. There were 50 players making up 12 teams, which means ยฃ100 for the Air Ambulance, and many thanks to Team Belton donating their ยฃ25 winnings back to the charity. Giving a total of ยฃ125 for the cause.

The second quiz of the month 29th September, was won by โ€œRound The Horneโ€ with 115 points, well done to them. The contestant for the 1-2-1 question once again quotations was the choice and it was
โ€œWho said, โ€œSuccess is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage to continue that countsโ€?โ€ This was said by Winston Churchill, it was answered correctly by the contestant who won ยฃ100. Congratulations. The 1-2-1 will be set at ยฃ100 for the October quizzes. There were 50 players taking part making up 10 teams which gives ยฃ100 to the Air Ambulance. Again many thanks to the โ€œUp the Walksโ€ team who donated their prize back to the charity. That gave ยฃ110 raised in this quiz plus ยฃ125 from the first quiz, giving a grand total of ยฃ235 which has been sent and received by the Air Ambulance. Thank you to everyone who took part. The next quizzes are on the 20th & 27th October, starting at 7:45pm and quiz meals starting at 5:45pm costing ยฃ7.50 each. Ring to book you entry, and please remember to cancel if you find nearer the date you cannot attend. Thank you to everyone.

Howโ€™s the weather been over the last month? Things seem to be returning to normal, with much cooler temperatures and some much needed rain.

The quiz on 18th August was attended by 62 players, forming 13 teams. The contestant in the 1-2-1 question chose the category โ€œPot Luckโ€, and the question was:

This month, we said goodbye to Jess Holmes, who has taken a job at Lincoln University in the Sports Department, a role for which she obtained her degree.

We also said goodbye to Reilly Davies, who has left to take up an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.

I thank them both for all their hard work at the Horseshoes, and we all wish them every success in their future careers.

As mentioned in earlier notes, we are having the Thatchers Fusion removed and, on 11th September, it will be replaced by ๐Ž๐ฅ๐ ๐Œ๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ ๐…๐ฅ๐š๐ฏ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ฐ๐š๐ฏ๐ž.

We have all our normal b**rs and c***rs, including Carling, Stella, Thatcherโ€™s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doom Bar, Timothy Taylor and Batemans ###B. We also have a whole range of non-alcoholic drinks, cocktails and, of course, our extensive range of wines. On the spirits side, whiskies are not as popular as they were in years gone by, but we stock a range of gins, which remain very popular.

I thank everyone for supporting the Horseshoes, because, of course, without such marvellous support, the Horseshoes could go the way of some 7,000 pubs over the years and simply disappear.

I would also like to say a very big thank you to all our members of staff for their continued hard work and support.

What we are looking for:
-No previous experience necessary- full training will be provided
-Part-time hours to begin with whilst you complete your training, with the opportunity for additional hours as you develop
-Primarily a front of house role, with the opportunity to be cross-trained in the kitchen
-Excellent opportunities for career progression, including the potential to move into a supervisor position
-Salary will be discussed at the interview stage

Hello Everybody,
As always we begin with this monthโ€™s weather review. Itโ€™s been very dry, very hot, very clammyโ€ฆ. we need some rain!

July Quizzes were a great success with 125 quizzers attending, which raised a total of ยฃ371. This has been sent and received by the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance, thank you to everyone who took part! We especially wanted to say a huge thank you to Team CMJ, who won the 1-2-1 question on the second quiz, worth ยฃ120. In an incredibly generous gesture, they donated the entire prize money back to the charity.

The first quiz was held on Tuesday 21st July, we had 55 players forming 12 teams. Congratulations to Sheldrake Arms for winning with an impressive 128 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant selected the topic โ€˜Quotesโ€™ with the questions being โ€œWho said, โ€˜They can have any colour they like as long as it is black?โ€™ Who said this and what was he referring to?โ€ The correct answer was Henry Ford, who was referring to the Model T Ford, the worldโ€™s first mass-produced car. The contestant answered correctly and therefore won ยฃ120, well done to them!

Our second quiz took place on Tuesday 28th July, with 70 players forming 15 teams. Congratulations to The Soloists for winning with an impressive 140 points, well done to them! The 1-2-1 question contestant selected the topic โ€˜60โ€™s popโ€™ with the question being โ€˜Who was the lead singer of The Troggs?โ€™ The correct answer being Reg Pressley. As mentioned earlier the contestant answered correctly and gave the money back to the charity, well done and thank you to them!

Our next quizzes will take place on Tuesday 18th August and Tuesday 25th August, both starting at 7:45pm, with the chance of winning ยฃ100 with the 1-2-1 question! We offer Quiz Basket Meals at ยฃ7.50, served from 5:45pm. We are already taking bookings! So donโ€™t waste any time and book with us now, please call 01529 414092 to reserve your team table or ask one of our lovely staff members at the bar! If you have booked and cannot attend please let us know. A friendly reminder the quiz starts at 7:45pm, so please make sure you are ready and seated with plenty of time to spare, see you then and good luck!

Bookings:
It may seem early but we are already receiving and taking bookings for Christmas Parties! We will be running our festive Christmas menu every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from the week beginning 3rd December through to 19th December, between 5:00pm and 7:30pm, this menu is evenings only. If you are planning Christmas parties, family meals or a festive celebration, please get in touch to secure your table.

B**r Garden:
Our fantastic outdoor area is providing a massive benefit, especially in this spell of very hot weather.

Thereโ€™s nothing better than enjoying a refreshing drink, good company, and the sunshine in our lovely b**r garden. Whether youโ€™re joining us for a relaxed afternoon, an evening catch-up with friends or simply looking for somewhere to sit back and enjoy the summer weather, our outdoor space is ready and waiting for you.
We are researching how we can make our b**r garden more suitable in the winter weather, if this is outdoor heating or weather protection. We would love to make sure our outdoor space can be enjoyed all year round.

B**rs:
At the bar, youโ€™ll find our usual range of b**rs, wines, cocktails and soft drinks. Our regular b**rs now include: Carling, Stella, Thatcherโ€™s, Guinness, Birra Moretti, Doombar, Timothy Taylor, Batemans ###B and Thatcherโ€™s Fusion- Cloudy Lemonade, Blood Orange, Apple and Blackcurrant.

Goodbye:
This month, we have sadly said goodbye to some of our lovely team members: Ryan, Rhianna and Grace.
We would like to thank them for all their hard work, dedication and commitment during their time with us. They have been a real credit to The Horseshoes team and we truly appreciate everything they have done.
