Welcome to The Old Hall Restaurant near Shrewsbury

Curry Chef Winner of “Shropshire Curry Chef of 2013″

I am delighted to announce that I was voted the Best Curry Chef in Shropshire for 2013/14 – thank you everyone for your kind words. Old Hall Persian Influenced Restaurant is considered to be amongst the best restaurants in Shropshire. Through time, Persian cuisine has grown and influenced the culinary mores of the Middle East, Central Asia and India. Persian cooking is renowned for its elaborate rice dishes, delicious kababs, nourishing soups and hearty stews. Persians delicately flavour their food with herbs, spices and dried fruits. A variety of nan-like impressive flat breads supplement rice. Pomegranates and dates provide a sweet finish to meals. Our cooking is dominated by simplicity and yet the results are amazing; to look at, to smell and to taste! It is full of pleasant surprises! Fusion of Persian and North Indian Cuisine is our speciality. Please note that we are NOT an Iranian Restaurant anymore! Our food is unique to us. WINNER: Shropshire Curry Chef of the Year 2013

UK Award finalists:

United Kingdom South Asian Chef of the Year 2011 and 2012

Shropshire Curry Chef of the Year 2013

Shropshire Curry Chef of the Year 2011 and 2012. Dr Lal Haider is a former Shropshire surgeon who swapped his doctor’s coat for chef’s whites and in recent years has become renewed for his unique slant on Persian Cuisine, influenced by more Western Palates, but still with a definitive nod to his Persian roots. In recent years Dr Lal has been as accredited as a chef, as he was a doctor.

🍂🌸 A little welcome to autumn from our garden 🌼❤️
As some of our summer flowers gently come to the end of their season, others are beginning to bloom and bring new colour to the garden. Our beautiful chrysanthemums are taking centre stage, reminding us that every season has its own special beauty. 🌺🍁
There’s something lovely about watching the garden change, with a little farewell to summer and a warm welcome to autumn.
Wishing everyone a cosy, peaceful and beautiful autumn, with plenty of little things to make you smile. ❤️🌿
With warm wishes from our garden to yours. 🌸🍂

It was so lovely meeting this family today at lunchtime. ❤️ A wonderful mum, her son and her niece, travelling down from up North to visit her other son further South. They stopped by for a bite to eat and fancied something nice and simple.

They ended up having chicken & chips and fish & chips, neither of which are actually on our menu! 😄 But that’s the beauty of our lunchtime menu: if you don’t see exactly what you fancy, just ask! We’ll always do our best to accommodate you.

We had such a lovely conversation, and they absolutely adored their lunch. They’ve promised to come back and spread the word, which really means the world to us. ❤️

Thank you so much for visiting, and to everyone else, please do pop in and see us. We’d love to welcome you! 🍽️❤️

What a wonderful we had today! ❤️

It was our first Sunday lunch service after a little while, and we were so pleased to welcome such a lovely mix of people: families, couples, friends getting together, and those meeting halfway from different parts of the country.

Among our guests was this lovely couple, who travelled to Shropshire in their and are staying just up the road from us. They kindly gave us permission to share their photograph, and we’re so grateful. 🥰

We’re hoping today will be the beginning of making Sunday lunch a permanent fixture at Old Hall. There’s something rather special about a relaxed Sunday, good food and good company.

Thank you to everyone who joined us today and helped make our first Sunday lunch back such a lovely one.
If you find yourselves in on a Sunday, we’d love to welcome you to our little corner of . ❤️

🌅 A little something different tonight…!

For a change, this post isn’t about the , the , or our wonderful . Tonight, I simply wanted to share a few photographs of the stupendous sunset we were lucky enough to witness this evening. ❤️

There is something quite magical about the skies at this time of year. As autumn arrives and the days become shorter, the evening sun sits lower in the sky. Its light has to travel through much more of our atmosphere, scattering away the shorter blue wavelengths and leaving more of the beautiful reds, oranges and golds for us to see.

And tonight, nature certainly put on a spectacular show. 🌅✨

Sometimes it’s worth simply stopping for a moment, looking up, and appreciating the beauty that is right in front of us.

And, of course, , our much-loved restaurant dog, was there to enjoy the evening too. 🐾❤️

We were so delighted to welcome a lovely party of 23, with family travelling from up and down the country and even from across the globe to spend precious time together around our tables.

It was such a pleasure to see everyone enjoying themselves, sharing laughter, conversation and, we hope, plenty of delicious food! Thank you so much for choosing us for such a special family gathering, and for kindly giving us permission to share these photographs. It means a great deal to us. ❤️

And to everyone who finds themselves in beautiful Shropshire, we would be absolutely delighted if you came to visit us at the Old Hall. You will always receive a very warm welcome. ❤️

17 Years of Dorrington Old Hall ❤️

Back in 2009, we opened our doors for the very first time, never quite knowing what the years ahead would bring.

Seventeen years later, we look back with enormous gratitude. Along the way, we have had the privilege of meeting thousands of wonderful people, many of whom have become familiar faces, friends, and a truly special part of our journey.

You have shared birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations, family gatherings, quiet meals, laughter and countless beautiful memories around our tables and you have allowed us to share our food, our home and our passion with you.

We feel incredibly blessed and grateful to have been part of so many people's lives over these 17 years. ❤️

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every single person who has walked through our doors, supported us, recommended us, left us a kind word, or simply enjoyed a meal with us.

Here’s to 17 wonderful years and, God willing, to many more memories, friendships, laughter and good food together. ❤️

With love and gratitude
