Final Month of the Trail!

We are part of West Dorset CAMRA’s 50th anniversary Ale Trail also referred to “50 Shades of Ales”. This event ends on the 31st of August which is still time to complete 1 of the 5 trails by visiting 2 pubs each weekend (one on the Saturday & another on the Sunday).

About 50 Shades of Ale -
There is a total of 5 trails split into colours: Green; Red; Blue; Orange & Purple. Each trail has 10 pubs which when you visit and have any drink, be is Ale, Cider or soft drink for the drivers that pub will stamp your booklet, there are 5 tiers of prizes depending on how many trails you complete.

We are part of the Green Trail with 9 other pubs that are in ‘geographical closeness’ with a couple of outliers for each trail.

On the Guest Ale pump this week we have Cerne Abbas Brewery’s Danny’s Brew!

This is an award winning beer created by Danny back in his early years of training to be a brewer with Cerne Abbas Brewery. This is a tradition bitter of 4.4% ABV

Alongside Cerne Abbas’s Danny’s Brew we have our house Ales: Palmers Copper; Fuller’s London Pride and St Austell’s Proper Job.

On the Guest Ale pump this week we have Exmoor’s Gold!

This is a golden ale which Exmoor claims to be the first UK single malt golden ale. Exmoor’s Gold has an ABV of 4.5%. This ale has a slight citrus aroma, and a refreshing hop flavour.

Alongside Exmoor’s Gold we have our house Ales: Palmers Copper; Fuller’s London Pride and St Austell’s Proper Job.

Thank you for popping in!

We are please to have seen some faces pop in either on their way or way back from Yetminster Fair to try a pint or 1/2 pint of cider.

We have got a total of 7 still ciders available, 3 traditional ciders cover a Sweet, Medium and Dry.
Sweet - No.8 from Harry’s Cider
Medium - Alchemy from Isaac Cider
Dry - Tower Brue from Dowding’s
All of these ciders are 6% ABV, we understand the clips may say higher than this but we have been told from the companies who supplied the cider they are actually 6%

In addition to the traditional ciders we have 4 flavoured ciders.
Apples & Pears (5% ABV) from Dorset Nectar
Pink Elderflower (3.4% ABV) from Dorset Nectar
Pink Rhubarb (4% ABV) from Harry’s Cider
Raspberry & Blackcurrant (4% ABV) from Harry’s Cider

Come join us after Yetminster Fair for a ‘cider fest’ where all these ciders and other drinks will be available while we have music preformed outside in the courtyard from 6:00pm till 9:00pm.

Dan will have the kitchen open from 6:00pm till 9:00pm too, if you fancy to have a bite to eat while listening to the music.

We are still selling out branded plastic cups which are perfect for picnics, camping or taking to festivals. Available in both pint and half pints.

We are showing the Semi-Final of England vs Argentina!

We will be broadcasting the semi-final in the main pub via a projector & on a TV in the back room. The game kicks off at 8:00pm on Wednesday which we will stay open longer if the game goes into extra time or penalty and close 30 minutes after the game.

Come down beforehand and grab yourself a pizza from Dan who will be out the front selling pizzas from 5:00pm till 8:00pm.

New Tradition Cider!

Dowdings is a small but highly acclaimed husband and wife team of artisan cider producers located in Shepton Montague near Wincanton, Somerset. Their range of ciders is impressive and always only made with 100% apple juice. Current regulations can allow mass produced cider to have only a minimum 35% apple cider content. Traditionally Dowdings fermentation takes at least 8 months. Some of the mega mass produced national cider makers speed up the fermentation process in as little as three weeks!

We are proud to introduce Dowdings Tower Brue dry cider into our range of traditionally made still ciders all at 6% ABV. Winner of Taste of the West Gold in 2024,2025 and most recently 2026. This 100% juiced cider has a raw cooking apple fruitiness with a hint of straw on the nose. It delivers a delicious mild, mouth watering finish without overly aggressive tannins. In short a delicious multi award winning traditional ‘real’ dry cider

We will be broadcasting the quarter-final in the main pub area, with the late kick-off of 10:00pm we are primarily open for the football and will be closing 30 minutes after the game to allow time to hopefully celebrate a win.

JULY’s MUSIC EVENT!

Outdoor Practice - Thursday 9th July
Open Mic - Sunday 12tg July
Live Music - Saturday 18th of July

OUTDOOR PRACTICE:
Two years ago we had the Accidentals doing an outdoor practice of their set which was just a quiet event, this year it is open to anyone who would like to come and listen to them practice.

They will be starting at 6:15pm and preforming throughout the evening till they have finished. If you fancy to listen to this “choir” group in the sun with a cold drink this is for you.

Dan will open the kitchen for food during the evening. So along with your cold drink you can have a meal too.

OPEN MIC:
Starting at 6:00pm and going till close (9:00pm) we have our open mic. We host our Open Mics on the Second Sunday of the month. This month we are planning to have it outside while the weather is nice.

John will be hosting and organising the acts that are preforming, sound provided and engineering by our very own Bakerman Dan.

Come down to listen or speak to John who will be pointed out if you would like to perform a number or 2.

Dan is potentially lighting the BBQ to offer during the evening.

LIVE MUSIC:
On the evening of the fair we have arranged a new duo to perform for us. The twin duo of Stu and Andy are contacts of Craig’s and have agreed the short notice of performing as this last minute event to still do something on Fair Day.

They will be on Acoustic Guitar and Piano with vocals of some chilled and classic singalong songs. They have preformed before at Sherborne Festival if anyone has seen/ listened to them before.

This will also be outside and will be our way to end the day of Yetminster Fair which is a perfect day to try some of our new ciders.
