Getting ready for our end of an era The Rising Sun Twitton Halloween extravaganza tomorrow!

It kicks off at 5pm with a kid’s disco with music, games, lots of treats and a couple of tricks!

Then one of our favourite bands who premiered here, The Rough Riders will be playing from 7pm

There will be prizes for best fancy dress within different categories.

If anyone hasn’t had a chance to get an outfit, or may struggle to afford to get one we have loads here from our parties across the years, for adults, children and even dogs! Pop in tonight or arrive early tomorrow and we’d be happy to lend you something for the evening.

Competition time! Would you like a chance to win a free drink at our party on Saturday?

Simply guess who Laura & Kingsley will be coming dressed up as… the first person to comment with the correct answer will get a free pint of been, large house spirit and mixer or glass of w**e. If nobody gets it all entrants will be placed in a draw and one chosen at random!

Use photos of our previous costumes as inspiration and our cryptic clue to make your guess!

“From the banks of the Darenth to the long haul of the open road, our relationship is built for travel and adventure but this Saturday, we’re trading the camper for a classic Ford V8. To crack who we’re coming as, follow the heavy, breathless rhythm of Gainsbourg’s most scandalous track, and ask yourself: which famous historical pair's famous journey ended with a heavy foot on the gas and a very permanent stop?”

There is currently a lot of uncertainty around our future. One thing is certain though, this Saturday 31st October is set to be a party to remember!

We’ll be kicking things off with a spooky family disco from 5pm and then from 7pm one of our favourite bands The Rough Riders are going to be playing!

They’ve never played inside before and are really excited to do so. This promises to be an night of amazing music, dancing and fun! 🤩

Plus there will be prizes for best dressed and games and competitions throughout

Open mic tomorrow evening from 7.30pm

It’s inside out of respect to the weather and our neighbours 🤫

This may well have to be the last one so come along and let’s make it a good one. The amazing Rick Davnall has even written a song about The Rising Sun Twitton that we hope he’ll perform 🎶🎤🎸

It is with very heavy hearts that we announce that we will be closing and leaving The Rising Sun Twitton at the end of this month.

We really wanted to be able to stay on and continue mum’s amazing legacy, but a couple of difficult neighbours and untenable restrictions from the council have contributed towards Laura becoming seriously unwell and making it unviable for us to continue running it as we are.

On the plus side, our motto is always “any excuse for a party” and this is going to be the party to end all parties!

Our last night happens to fall on Halloween (Saturday 31st October) so expect a party starting something for families in the afternoon and going on into the evening with live music, fancy dress and our usual fun and shenanigans. We’re trying to get our favourite bands in and we’ll be running down stock so it’s set to be a party to remember…

Details will follow shortly.

Thank you to all of our lovely Rising Sun family for the support they’ve given us over the years and particularly the past couple of months which have been incredibly challenging.

Have Your Say on the Future of The Rising Sun Twitton

As many are aware, a review of The Rising Sun's licence is currently underway.

The review has been triggered by complaints from a small number of neighbours relating to our music events and incidents that we believe do not accurately reflect how the pub operates. We have always tried to act responsibly, ending outdoor music at reasonable times, monitoring events and working with the authorities whenever concerns have been raised.

The Rising Sun is a small community pub. Our summer events and live music help keep the business viable and support local musicians, charities and community activities.

If you believe The Rising Sun contributes positively to village life and would like to share your experience, please consider submitting comments as part of the licensing consultation.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us during what has been an incredibly difficult few weeks.
