Horton Station Cafe Bar will be open this coming Friday and Saturday (2nd and 3rd October).

Following this the Cafe Bar will close until 2027 - reopening date to be confirmed.

2026 has been a struggle with low volunteer numbers meaning that we have been unable to open regularly or maintain opening over the winter.

We’d like to say a massive thank you to our small team of volunteers who have opened the cafe when possible. Most importantly we’d like to thank the customers who have visited, shared their stories of walking in the dales, travelling along the line, working on the railway or exploring the area for the first time.

We will be back revitalised and ready to welcome you again next year. In the meantime call in to Ribblehead Station Tearoom and Visitor Centre for all your Settle Carlisle cake needs.

If you like discounted cake why not come along and find out about volunteering with the Friends of the Settle-Carlisle Line this Wednesday at Settle Station or on the 15th at Ribblehead Station.

We would like to apologise that if over recent weeks you have been unable to get you coffee, parkin or b**r fix in Horton before jumping on a train.

We find ourselves desperately short of volunteers to be able to open both Horton and Ribblehead station cafes at the same time. Sadly on these occasions when there is not enough staff Horton has to close.

We are actively recruiting more volunteers (could you help out - please get in touch if you can) and taking steps to try and keep Horton open more.

Thank you for your understanding.
