What a summer. And what an incredible little Island community. ❤️

As the sun sets on another unforgettable summer in Seaview, we’ve been looking back at what has been one hell of a season.

Nearly 135,000 drinks and over 65,000 meals served. The weather has been superb, the sunsets unforgettable and you have certainly been giving it some Fort!

But numbers only tell part of the story. To our loyal locals, familiar holiday faces and everyone who discovered us for the first time this summer, thank you. Every visit has meant something to us.

And to our phenomenal team, in the kitchen, behind the bar, on the floor and behind the scenes, you have been extraordinary. Through seriously busy services, long days and late nights, you’ve kept smiling and given it your all. None of this happens without you. ❤️

It hasn’t all been plain sailing. New rules, legislation, rising costs and plenty of obstacles have made running an independent hospitality business as challenging as ever. But we love this place, believe in what we’re building and, with your continued support, we’ll keep doing what we do best.

As summer gives way to autumn, there’s LOTS to look forward to. Our new autumn menu, Sunday roasts, pub quizzes, Happy Hour, live music, tasting evenings, special events, Christmas, NYE and plenty more.

So, as the summer lights fade, we’re keeping ours firmly on.

Please keep showing up. Pop in for a pint. Gather your friends for supper. Book that Sunday roast. Come to the quiz. Bring the family. Tell your friends.

Every visit matters, especially when the beaches get quieter and the jumpers come out. Supporting local pubs, restaurants, shops and independent businesses through the quieter months helps keep the places we all love here for another season.

Back by popular demand! Our much-loved Quiz Nights return next Wednesday and continue on the first Wednesday of every month, now hosted by our very own Head Chef and newly crowned in-house Quiz Whizz, Scott!

Expect quick wit, plenty of laughs, a few risqué questions and perhaps even a new twist on the traditional pub quiz!

Teams of 2–6 are welcome, with entry £3 per person (cash only) payable on the night. All proceeds go directly to our chosen local charity (announced each night).

Ready… Steady… BOOK! Summer has had its moment. The long sunny days, busy terraces and evenings by the water have been rather good to us, but as another brilliant summer season draws to a close, the days get shorter and autumn starts creeping in, there’s one VERY good reason to get excited…

OUR SUNDAY ROASTS ARE BACK! 🙌

From Sunday 20th September, our famous Sunday Roasts return to The Old Fort and we’ll be serving them every Sunday from 12 noon, all day until they’re gone!

Expect our usual choice of beautifully cooked meats alongside a delicious vegetarian option, all served with golden crispy roast potatoes, huge fluffy homemade Yorkshire puddings, fresh seasonal vegetables and lashings of rich, delicious gravy.

And because we don’t believe in doing Sunday lunch by halves, there are our signature sides too. Cauliflower cheese, pigs in blankets and all the trimmings. The lot.

Because this isn’t just any food…This is fortful Sunday food - done right, and served with a sea view! 🌊

There’s something rather special about a proper pub roast on a Sunday. Good food, good w**e, good company, no cooking and absolutely no washing up.

Whether it’s a table for two, the whole family or a long lazy lunch with friends, settle in, pour a glass of red and let us take care of the rest while the Solent quietly does its thing outside.

We’re growing our kitchen team and are looking for a talented, ambitious Chef de Partie to join us. Sitting right on the water’s edge in the heart of Seaview, The Old Fort is a busy, multi-award-winning pub and restaurant with an established team, a loyal following and some very exciting plans ahead.

Unlike many hospitality businesses on the Island, we operate all year round and offer permanent, year-round employment. This is a genuine opportunity to build your career with us, not simply join us for a season.

Another pretty average summer evening in East Wight… 🌅

The funny thing is, we almost take sunsets like this for granted. It’s only when someone captures a shot like this, or a visitor stops and says, “Wow, look at that,” that you remember just how bloody special this little corner of the world is.

Which brings us to a story…Wind back to last year.

We were showing a group of potential investors around a very exciting new site. A project which, with the right backing, we genuinely believed could become one of the Isle of Wight’s, if not the South Coast’s, most iconic new destinations.

In walks a local estate agent. 45 minutes late.

Board shorts. Sandals. Plenty of confidence.

After walking the site, we headed inside where we’d put together a proper presentation, complete with plans, presentation boards and a 3D model of the proposed development.

Our estate agent friend then decided to share his expert assessment with the investors and other stakeholders in the room:

“The problem is, you don’t get sunsets in East Wight.”

Sorry… what? 😂

We laughed, assuming he was joking. He wasn’t. He doubled down.

Apparently, because there were “no sunsets”, there would be “no evening trade” and the site fundamentally didn’t work.

Despite us pointing out the fairly obvious geographical flaw in this theory, he remained absolutely adamant. And, unfortunately, when someone presented as the local property expert says something with enough confidence, people tend to listen.

To this day, we’re still not entirely sure whether it was stupidity, sabotage, or simply a spectacular example of confidently talking complete bo****ks.

And we’ll probably never know whether that little intervention played any part in the investors ultimately losing interest. But anyway…

🍻 THE OLD FORT HAS BEEN NOMINATED FOR THE GOOD FOOD GUIDE – 100 BEST PUBS 2026! 🍻

We’d love to see a small Seaview pub flying the flag for the village and the Isle of Wight nationally 🌊

Over the past six years we’ve poured everything into building a pub the village can be proud of, while keeping it a proper local at heart.

It’s not always easy — in summer we serve 500+ meals a day from a small kitchen, alongside a packed bar, full benches, kids’ teas, dogs, boats, live music, events, and the occasional curveball 😅

We won’t always get everything right, but we hope you can see what we’re building:
