A POLITE NOTICE TO PARENTS & GUARDIANS

Unfortunately, this is something we feel we now need to address publicly as it has been happening regularly for quite some time.

We are having an ongoing issue with groups of children, mainly young girls, entering The Beckwood solely to use our toilets and, on a number of occasions, leaving them in an unacceptable state.

This has included sweets being thrown around, water being deliberately thrown over the toilets and floors, and marks being left on our walls.

We want to make one thing very clear — children are and always will be welcome at The Beckwood when accompanied by a responsible adult. We are a family-friendly pub and want that to continue.

We also have absolutely no problem with a child who genuinely needs to use the toilet popping in to use our facilities. All we ask is that they come to the bar and politely ask a member of staff first. We are hardly going to say no!

However, repeatedly coming into the pub in groups and damaging or deliberately making a mess of our facilities simply isn’t acceptable.

We would really appreciate it if parents and guardians could have a word with their children and remind them to respect local businesses and their property.

Our staff shouldn’t have to repeatedly clean up deliberate mess or repair damage caused by people who aren’t customers of the pub.

We don’t want to stop anyone from using our facilities when they genuinely need them — we’re simply asking for a little respect and courtesy.
