About the Role

Willowbeck Lodge is a charming 10-bedroom independent hotel with restaurant, located in a desirable village setting on the outskirts of Carlisle, North Cumbria.

We are looking for an experienced live-in hospitality couple to join our team from September 2026 to January or February 2027.

This is a hands-on operational role supporting the day-to-day running of the hotel across reception, housekeeping, food and beverage, maintenance and general hotel operations.

We are looking for two people who can work well together, take responsibility and contribute practical hospitality experience across a range of hotel operations.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve supporting the management team with the smooth day-to-day operation of the hotel, including:

Reception and front-of-house duties
Welcoming guests and providing a professional, friendly service
Guest check-ins, check-outs and enquiries
Supporting bar and restaurant operations
Maintaining high standards of customer service
Supervising and assisting with housekeeping
Checking bedrooms and public areas to ensure high presentation standards
Identifying and reporting maintenance requirements
Carrying out minor practical maintenance where appropriate
Coordinating daily operational tasks and priorities
Supporting other members of the hotel team
Liaising with guests, suppliers and contractors
Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, safety and presentation
Responding positively to the changing requirements of a busy hotel
Taking a hands-on approach and helping wherever required
About You

We are particularly interested in applicants with previous hotel, hospitality or accommodation management experience.

Ideally, the successful applicants will ideally have:

Previous experience in a hotel or hospitality environment
Experience of hotel operations or supervisory responsibilities
Experience in one or more of reception, housekeeping, food and beverage or restaurant operations
Confidence dealing with guests and resolving day-to-day issues
Good organisational and problem-solving skills
A practical, hands-on approach
Strong attention to detail and high standards
A friendly and professional manner
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Flexibility to assist across different areas of the hotel

We are looking for two people whose combined experience provides a broad range of hospitality, operational, management and practical skills.

Live-In Accommodation

The accommodation is spacious and well appointed and is located within the grounds of the property.

This position may suit two experienced hospitality professionals looking for a short-term live-in opportunity in Cumbria.

WE ARE HIRING

Fini’s has built an excellent reputation, both locally and further
afield, for great food and drink, warm hospitality and outstanding
service.

We’re looking for enthusiastic, friendly and reliable full-time
restaurant team member to join our small and welcoming team.

Our approach to food and hospitality is all about creating an
informal, relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. Fini’s is open to
both hotel residents and non-residents, serving breakfast, lunch and
dinner.

The Role

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two shifts are quite the
same. You’ll be an important part of creating the friendly, welcoming
experience our guests and customers have come to expect from Fini’s.

Your responsibilities will include:

Welcoming customers and checking in hotel guests
Taking food and drink orders and communicating them clearly to the kitchen
Serving food and drinks
Responding to customer requests and ensuring guests receive excellent service
Clearing and resetting tables
Taking payments
Keeping the restaurant clean, tidy and well presented
Working closely with the rest of the team to ensure smooth service

About You

Hospitality and service are at the heart of what we do, so we’re
looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with customers and take
pride in providing a great experience.

You’ll ideally be:

Hardworking, reliable and punctual
Well organised and methodical
Customer focused, with a naturally helpful attitude

We’re looking for people who are willing to work a flexible shift
pattern, including weekend breakfasts, weekend lunchtimes and evening
dinner services. While shifts have set start times, finishing times
can vary depending on the needs of the service.

Experience

Previous experience in a restaurant, hotel, café or other food service
environment would be an advantage, but it isn’t essential.

We’re also happy to consider applicants who can demonstrate maturity,
common sense, reliability and a strong work ethic gained through other
working environments.

A Few Essentials

Due to insurance requirements, applicants must be aged 18 or over.

As we’re a small team and shifts can vary in their finishing times,
you’ll also need to be able to travel to and from work independently.

Due to high demand for accommodation at Willowbeck we require additional resource to strengthen our housekeeping team either in a self-employed or PAYE capacity. Typical hours 9:30am to 1pm. Willowbeck truck stop! A first for us last night. Our guests arrived in a truck cab. If you are planning on staying with us, this is proof we can (to some extent) accommodate larger vehicles!
Please let us know though as the view from restaurant is a bit obscured!
