I’m biased, I admit, but… I’m astonished that this is still out there roaming free, waiting for its forever family! 😳 Just re-listed following a collapsed sale, THE most GORGEOUS 5-bedroom house, built less than ten years ago and going for £50k less than the Home Report valuation. Bearing in mind that the interior design does not form part of the valuation, that's a stunning extra, even if I do say so myself! 🤪AND since the Home Report, there’s a new heating system, fully repaired roof, and sparkly spruced-up log burning fire. The gym is now gone and the rubber floor needs replacing with a carpet to form a new bedroom, but that’s it. Otherwise all ready and waiting… there’s even a fully functioning soopa-doopa 8-person hot tub! ❤️❤️❤️ C’monnnnnnn! Otherwise I might have to return to Tiree. 😳 ! A week from today droves will begin descending on the island in preparation for Tiree Music Festival and it pains me not to be there, to be surrounded by it, to soak up its atmosphere and be part of it. When you’re there, at it, enjoying it, it’s easy to believe those three days are all there is to TMF, and not give a thought to everything it brings before and leaves in its wake. The younger generation on the island inspired each year to sign up to something special, the first-timers who return as holiday-makers, the year-on-year re-connections and new friendships, the volunteers who have been coming back for years, the publicity it brings the island and the boost it gives tourism; the benefits are plentiful and not immediately apparent. We all benefit in some way. Every one of us there. Which isn’t me, this year. So I’m re-visiting this piece of nostalgia as a nod to great things produced by Tiree, rooted in humble beginnings and which, fundamentally, paved the path to TMF. Have a great week, everyone. ❤️

It was a time when we all thought we knew everyone on the island. It wasn’t true, of course, as much as we believe it to be.

📣 *PRICE DROP* 📣 So the long term plan last year when Yellow Hare first closed was to give it a few months to find the perfect taker-overs for this ready-to-go, walk-in-and-fire-her-up golden nugget, then begin to strip it back if they couldn’t be found. We came sooooo close to the dream handover. But business is fickle, and so here we are now, approaching stripping point. It would be sad if it came to that because it would mean it was not necessarily going to be a cafe any more (although it doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be). The last inducement before that happens. 🥺🤞❤️

Rightly or wrongly, I kind of feel you all have a part to play in this. All those years of baking and serving coffee and seeing lovely people and getting into the routine of early days and late nights. It became a happy habit and then it wasn’t. Off we skulked, my ingredients and I, deep into the blue yonder, never again to darken Tiree’s oven. We eyed each other in passing; me silent, the ingredients goading. It was only a matter of time. The neighbours were all I had, and they were all young students. Perfect fodder. To begin with it was only brownies. Then I branched out into all my favourites - almond slice, ginger cake, basque cheesecake, banana loaf, lemon drizzle. A box here, a box there. Never announced. Always left on doorsteps at odd times of day or night. Upstairs, downstairs. I seldom knew or cared if they were received. Until now. And now they’re all leaving. And just in time, a strong contender for the ‘new’ Yellow Hare is being given lots of thought. The closest we’ve properly got to replacing Tiree. Time has a funny way of slotting things neatly into place.

Shamelessly exploiting Tiree’s beauty to thank the mighty swell of subscribers on the website who have signed up in recent weeks to receive new blogs as they are published. Hardly ground breaking, but having close to 1,000 is ample to be going on with and I’m more than a little humbled and tickled pink! 🥰 If you currently receive emails but would rather not, please do unsubscribe, it is really easy! Thank you, thank you. 🙏 ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️

Yip... 🥰

All I had to do was make the decision, which I finally did, once and for all after much dithering, a week before I got on the ferry. One whole week. I would open for five days.
