Our bedrooms are more than just a place to sleep - they’re a glimpse into the past.

This is literally the case in Suite 17 as in there you'll find some of the original 'Wattle and Daub' wall from the 13th century!

(Wattle and Daub is a building method that has been used for thousands of years - wooden strips called 'wattle' are woven and then 'daubed' with a sticky material).

This clock has a story that goes back over 400 years...

It's been in our reception since the 1920s, but its ornate wooden case was reportedly carved by Spanish prisoners of war held at the original Dartmouth jail following the defeat of the Spanish Armada in 1588.

Just another one of the many extraordinary things you find when your hotel is 800 years old.

For centuries, our bar would have been the heart of the hotel - where people came to meet, drink and exchange stories.

We can only imagine what has been discussed here since the 13th century - royal affairs, tales from travellers, rumours of new lands being discovered across the sea...
