As the sun set over St Mawes on Saturday, the hotel bar filled with lederhosen and dirndl-clad men and women filling the dance floor. Great steins of b**r. Bratwurst and sauerkraut on the menu. Kaj Music on the mic. Congratulations to Bridget, who won the best-dressed prize.

We will have more live music through the Autumn. Keep an eye on here for dates.

There’s a quiet magic to St Mawes at this time of year, mornings start with the warmth of a fresh coffee in hand, as you look out over calm waters. Afternoons are made for crisp sea walks along the Roseland, then sinking into an armchair by the open fire with a good book (or a glass of w**e).

It’s time to embrace the art of lingering longer.

As the seasons change and autumn hits, there’s a distinct calm that settles over the coast. 🍂

The summer rush fades, leaving quiet shores, cool ocean breezes, and golden harbour light. It’s the absolute best time for a little getaway by the sea, spending slow mornings overlooking the water, exploring peaceful coastal paths, and retreating indoors as the evening chill sets in.

Whether you’re looking for a cosy coastal base or a laid-back waterside dinner, autumn at The St Mawes Hotel is all about simple pleasures and quiet moments.

There is a quiet, restorative magic that arrives as summer gently rounds out on the water.
September brings a welcome pause, calmer quaysides, softer autumn light, and that unhurried coastal pace we all look forward to.

If you haven’t managed a proper breather yet, consider this your sign to open the diary and steal a few days for yourself in St Mawes. Our beautiful rooms are filling up for the season ahead, but there’s still time to secure your autumn escape. Unpack, slow down, and let the daily noise slip away by the harbour.
