Some details to remember before heading to us tomorrow:
• Pub still opens at our normal time of 3pm 🕒
• Walk-ins only, so no table reservations inside or outside for the game! 🚶‍♂️
• We’ve got Mad Macs Street Food and Event Catering serving you delicious food from 5pm so your dinner is sorted!
• And finally, our car park will be closed off so there’ll be no parking available onsite 🅿️

⚽️🍻 The Wait Is Over! 🍻⚽️

FIFA World Cup 2026 starts tomorrow and we’ll be showing the live action here at The Mermaid!

📺 3 big screens in our beer garden & 1 screen inside the pub
🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 We’ll be showing every England game - even the late night kick offs!
🚶 All England games are walk-ins only, so arrive early to secure a seat. Once we reach capacity there will be no more entry
🍔 We will have a food truck onsite for every England game, along with a food truck every weekend here in July too for all those other knockout World Cup games!

England group stage fixtures:
📅 Wednesday 17th June - 9pm KO

We are backing the VATS THE PROBLEM CAMPAIGN

For years our industry has been taxed to bankruptcy.

This campaign will immediately provide support not only to pubs but also to hospitality businesses across St Albans and the UK

Do you want to back your favourite venue, help your high street and support local jobs? Then sign our petition to lower the rate of VAT for hospitality to 10%.

Our pubs, restaurants, cafes, hotels, nightclubs and many more, are at the heart of our communities.

They bring people together and bring life to our cities, towns and villages, but they’re under huge pressure from rising costs.

In the UK, you pay one of the highest VAT rates in Europe. 20% extra in VAT for your meal out or stay away. In France, Spain and Italy, it’s 10%. In Germany? 7%.

Our message to Government is simple. Let’s stand together to say VAT at 10% is fair for hospitality.
