For National Chip Week, 2–9 October 2026, Herts and Essex Foods are donating 20p for every portion of chips sold to RABI, supporting the farmers behind our chips.

So, who are RABI? The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution is a charity providing practical, financial and emotional support to farming people across England and Wales. From help with financial pressures to counselling, they’re there when times get tough.

Our chips start with hardworking farmers, and this is our way of giving something back. 💚

🥁 HE’S DONE IT AGAIN! 🥁

We’ve got some fantastic news to share…

Our very own Matthew has officially made it through to the FINAL 14 for the 2027 Drywite Young Fish Frier of the Year!

And this isn’t Matthew’s first time making his mark in the competition… last year he made it all the way to the TOP 10! 👏

Now he’s back for another year and has once again shown just how much knowledge, skill and passion he has for the fish & chip industry.

After making it through the first stage of judging, Matthew is now down to the final 14 young friers in the country — and we couldn’t be prouder of him! ❤️

The next stage will really put his skills to the test, covering everything from fish preparation and frying techniques to potatoes, oil knowledge and more.

We know how hard Matthew works and how passionate he is about what he does, so it’s brilliant to see that recognised once again.

👏 We’d also like to say a huge congratulations to all the young friers taking part in this year’s competition. It’s fantastic to see so many talented young people representing our industry and showing the skill, hard work and passion that goes into great fish & chips.

Top 10 last year… Final 14 this year… let’s see how far he can go! 👀🏆
