Cant wait for this to stop out side on the high Street
📢 BRINGING BACK THE RYDE LAND TRAIN — AND WE WANT YOUR VOICE!
It has been over a decade since the iconic land trains trundled along the Ryde seafront, and we think it is time for a world-class upgrade.
Ryde on Tyme Ltd is officially launching a public campaign to bring a 100% Electric, Zero-Emission Heritage Transit Train back to the streets of Ryde for the 2027 Summer season.
We are preparing a major capital infrastructure bid for the ring-fenced Central Government Strategic Regeneration Grants dropping this September to fully fund the manufacturing of our carriages using local Isle of Wight marine carpentry and engineering trades.
🔮 The Vision for the Ryde Transit Network:
Imagine arriving at the seafront transport interchange and stepping straight onto a silent, beautiful eco-train.
Fitted with a vintage timber steam engine cowling and flush-mounted solar roof skins, this train will smoothly carry residents and visitors up the hill, dropping them directly outside our incredible independent Upper High Street and Union Street retailers.
Supporting Local Shops: Shuttling high-volume tourist footfall straight up the incline to independent tills.
Affordable Heritage Fares: Operating on a premium, low-cost ticket structure with dedicated discount tiers for local Island residents.
Active Traffic Calming: Operating at a gentle, walking-pace speed of just 10 mph with flashing amber beacons, our train acts as a moving safety barrier to naturally slow down the streetscape and protect pedestrians.
Disabled & Elderly Access: A low-floor, hop-on heritage shuttle that handles the steep hill for families and mobility-impaired residents without cutting off their independence.
Zero Cost to Taxpayers: Privately managed, backed by private interest-free loans, and requiring exactly £0.00 in ongoing local council tax or public subsidies.
The entire operational cost is completely sustained by independent ticket sales and sponsorship, meaning the council carries zero financial liability.
We are stepping up to deliver a self-sustaining asset that celebrates Ryde's unique transit history—but we need the grant panel to see that the public completely demands this project before we enter the presentation room this September.
