Good evening,
I’m writing to share the difficult decision to close my business. This has been one of the hardest choices I've faced, and I want you to understand the reasons behind it.
When I partnered with Abdul at the Spice Cabinet who is now the owner of Sona in Buntingford. I hoped for a collaborative venture, as recommended by my uncle. Unfortunately, it became clear that Abdul and my uncle had different intentions, leading them to start a new business and significantly impacting the Spice Cabinet.
Challenges mounted further with the return of our landlord, Richard Newman, who increased our rent despite our ongoing struggles.
Many issues with the building and Richard Newmans reputation was hidden from me by my business partner Abdul and even my uncle who previously I supported during his difficult time and this is how they stab me in the back.
I was expected to make extensive repairs while my staff lived under unacceptable conditions. This culminated in illness due to lack of basic utilities in their living accommodation.
As complaints from the council grew regarding the building's structure, I reached a breaking point. Ultimately, I had to prioritize my well-being and that of my family and the loss of losing my brother in January. I am now faced huge amount of debt most of which is due to making repairs to building while my landlord was in prison, and his decision to increase the rent as soon as he was released.
If I had a different landlord, I believe I would still be at the Spice Cabinet. It saddens me to leave, especially given my love for this community and our wonderful customers.
Thank you for all your support over the years. I will miss our conversations and the connections we've built. Wishing you all the best.
God bless.
