🍰 Our new homemade cake, freshly baked by Kate, are waiting for you.

While preparing today’s Victoria Sponge, Kate was reminded of her Granny, who always had one firm opinion when it came to cake:

“It’s called a cream cake for a reason — it should be cream with a little bit of cake, not the other way round!”

Safe to say, Kate remembered that advice. ❤️

So today, l was allowed to play hookie with my good friend Caroline and her friend Jo, to go and look at the beautiful blooms, at the Festival of Flowers held in Chichester Cathedral.
The displays were stunning and I was surprised to see that two of my favourites were by the ladies of St John's Church, Rowlands Castle.... So well done Sue Lenoard, Anne Herbert and Julie Fulford . What an honour , and you did the church and the village proud. 🌹

Attention , all my furry friends. I have just popped in to Mary Puppins next door to buy a doggy ice-cream for my two doggos to find out they have a buy 1 get 1 half price deal.... winner 🏆

We love getting postcards here at the Bumblebee, so thank you Mark and Martha Dombey you are so very kind.
So here is The Bumblebee Cafés version. When l serve Pasteis de Nata l always think of my very good friends Luis and , who where disgusted the first time l serve them to them because l hadn't included the cinnamon. In Brazil they are always served with a little pot of cinnamon .so its your choice either Portuguese or Brazilian.

So on Wednesday, Phil comes bouncing down to me in the cake prep kitchen and says.... em they have delivered fresh figs this week that l didn't order, can you use them?
My heart skipped a beat , yes please l said .
Phil was taken back slightly, because l normally roll my eyes and grumble about have to change the cake list for the week.
But l had just found a recipe for a fresh fig and cardamom cake.
We British always think er..... isn't that a curry spice? but that's black caradomom ,Green cardamom is used it many middle Eastern puddings and cakes and has a much softer almost sweet, fresh flavour.
Don't knock it until you have tried it as my old Dad would say .....
