Hidden away within the grounds of Tyrrells Park, The Cellar is a place to settle in, stay awhile, and let the evening take its course.

Whether you are staying with us or simply joining us for a meal or a drink, you are very welcome. No room key required.

Begin with a glass of something well chosen, a perfectly kept pint, or a cocktail mixed with quiet precision. Then stay on. Wander through the grounds, find a fireside chair, or disappear into a corner of the house and make it your own for the evening.

There is no rush here. No need to watch the clock. Just beautiful cooking, exceptional bottles, generous hospitality, and the particular pleasure of having nowhere else to be.

The W**e Bar & Restaurant is open Tuesday to Thursday from 5pm until 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 12pm until late.

Residents, neighbours and guests from further afield are all most warmly welcome.

This October, the Roast will return to Tyrrells Park.

The fires will be lit, and with their first warmth the old house will stir again on a Sunday, welcoming familiar faces beneath its old roof for the first time in many years.

And so, after too long an absence, an old custom shall quietly take its place again - restored, remembered, and carried on as it always ought to have been.

An Evening with Thomas Lombard

This October, The Cellar at Tyrrells Park will have the pleasure of welcoming Thomas Lombard of Maison Lombard for a rather special evening devoted to Ch*****ne.

Founded in Épernay in 1925, Maison Lombard has remained a family story for more than a century.

Thomas represents the fourth generation of that story, carrying forward the House’s heritage with a distinctive vision centred upon terroir, individual parcels and the remarkable nuances of the Premiers and Grands Crus of Ch*****ne.

On Thursday, 22nd October, Thomas will join us in The Cellar to guide guests through a carefully considered selection from the House.

Throughout the evening, each Ch*****ne will be accompanied by a thoughtfully chosen pairing, as Thomas shares something of the places, people and philosophy behind the w**es and the craftsmanship that continues to define Maison Lombard today.

It is a privilege to bring such an evening to Tyrrells Park, and one we hope will be as intimate as it is memorable.

Places will be deliberately limited, with attendance by ticket only. Early reservation is therefore warmly recommended.

For guests wishing to make an evening of the occasion, preferential room rates will be available exclusively to those attending - affording the pleasure of retiring upstairs once the final glass has been poured, with no need for the evening to be hurried to a close.

A rare evening. A remarkable House. And the pleasure of welcoming the fourth generation of a Ch*****ne story nearly a century in the making.

There is something about coming home for Christmas.

Imagine the winter sky beginning to scatter with stars, the last of the light slipping through the trees, breath hanging in the cold air, cold noses and rosy cheeks. Then, through the gathering dark, Tyrrells Park appears ahead - its windows aglow, fires already burning, and the unmistakable sense that somewhere inside, Christmas is waiting.

Step through the door and the warmth gathers around you. The air carries woodsmoke, orange peel, cloves and winter spice, a hint of brandy, and something rich and buttery drifting from the kitchen.

Beyond the hall, glasses chime, laughter rises, and familiar voices carry from room to room.

For many Christmases, families have come through these doors to celebrate. Children have grown up between visits. Parents have become grandparents. Families have returned to familiar rooms and familiar tables, raising glasses to milestones, memories and those no longer seated among them.

And this year, we feel very fortunate to become part of that story ourselves.

A note from The Cellar at Tyrrells Park.

Today, Friday 11th September, The Cellar will be reserved exclusively for a corporate event from 12pm until 5pm.

We are very grateful for your understanding and look forward to welcoming you back this evening for good food, beautifully poured drinks and the warm hospitality we hope you have come to expect from us.

And there is a little something extra to look forward to tonight, too. The wonderful Marco Di Gaetano will be joining us for live music from 8pm.

Now, for those interested in the artwork…

I first saw a replica of Jean-François de Troy’s Le Déjeuner d’huîtres, painted in 1735, at Maison Ruinart in Reims. The family is convinced the bottles are theirs; their shape echoes Ruinart’s historic silhouette, although the attribution remains unproven.

Commissioned by Louis XV for his private apartments at Versailles, the painting depicts a gathering of aristocratic men over oysters and Ch*****ne, surrounded by silver, marble and gilding. Yet for all its splendour, the scene is wonderfully relaxed.

Its most memorable detail is the Ch*****ne cork caught in mid-air, sending the diners’ eyes upwards. Regarded as the earliest known painted depiction of Ch*****ne being enjoyed - proof, perhaps, that even in 1735 the opening of a good bottle could stop a room.

Our house Ch*****ne, Thomas Lombard, chilled and ready to pour - fresh and elegant, with white peach, crisp apple and citrus giving way to subtle notes of brioche and biscuit. Fine mousse, bright acidity and a gentle creaminess through the mid-palate, finishing dry, clean and beautifully refreshing.

Beyond the glass, the New Forest keeps its own quiet rhythm. Deer wander between the trees, squirrels disappear into the branches, hares move through the grass and birdsong settles softly over the woodland.

Find your place in the grounds. Somewhere to unwind, to linger, to belong. Let us pour you another glass and simply watch the afternoon unfold around you.
