With the government announcing new school food standards that will include more pulses in school meals, I think this is the perfect time to share my lentil dishes.

My lentil dishes have become really popular with young people, especially children with dietary requirements such as dairy intolerance and gluten-free diets. They have even become some of the bestsellers in the café.

I’d really love for someone involved in school meals to see this and get in touch with me. I’d be very interested in discussing how I could provide these nutritious and popular pulse-based dishes to schools. Jamie Oliver Bite Back 2030

Last Friday open mic evening at the café was our last one, and it was absolutely epic

Hi friends and family,

Sorry I missed two weeks of the blog. You can imagine how busy I must have been! So many things have happened since my last post.

One word to summarise everything: overwhelmed. I feel overwhelmed every day, and sometimes I ask myself, “Did I do the right thing?” Even though I know I did, it has still been a lot to deal with. Your love and support have gone beyond my expectations, and some of you may have noticed that over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been very overwhelmed with the thought of closing the café.

This week, we had to say goodbye to one of our customers, who sadly passed away. We hosted his wake on Wednesday. It was lovely to see you all, and thank you for trusting us to look after such an important occasion.

Friday was our final Open Mic Night, and I have no words to express how special and memorable it was. What a night!

Saturday was another full house! A huge thank you to my friend Martin for coming in and giving us a hand. I have never seen the café buzzing like it has been over the last two Saturdays. It has been incredible.

Thank you all so much. We are still working hard to make sure that, whenever you visit us, you can order your favourite food and enjoy your time with us.

And a very special thank you to my amazing team. You have stood beside me through everything and always given me your very best. I honestly couldn’t have done it without you.

Next week, we are hoping my full-time staff member, Kim, will be back from holiday, so hopefully I can breathe a little easier!

For the last three years, we’ve been incredibly lucky to host our Open Mic creating a space for talented people to share their music, spoken word, stories, and hearts.
Our final Open Mic has now passed, but I wanted to leave you with something special.
I wrote a poem called “My Community” a little piece of my heart, inspired by the people and community who have made these three years so meaningful.
Please listen, and if it speaks to you, share it as a message of love to our community.
I’ll also be reading it individually for anyone who can visit the café before we finally close our doors at the end of October.
