Such sad news.
I first met Paul about 25 years ago when he used to play Sunday lunchtimes with us at The Captain Digby.
Then once we had the QH he was a regular booking on our summer gig roster - at times it felt like he would have the whole seafront joining in with his “Love Train” as it snaked around the harbour and he sung the lyrics!
Paul was also a big part in securing funding from KCC for the Rock Dock Festivals we used to organise, back when he was a councillor.
Great memories of a really great guy who always made a point of saying hello and having a chat whenever we saw one another - even when we bumped into each other in France one summer.
He will be taking a big piece of our fantastic, local music scene with him and his talent, energy and big smile will be missed but spoken about for years to come.
Love to his family and many, many friends.
Rest in peace Paul. x
“One Love.”
Yesterday, my beloved husband Paul passed away. Also known as One Love.
I don’t think there are enough words to describe the man he was, or the space he leaves behind. To me, he was my heart, my joy, and my best friend. To so many others, he was the man with the sunshine personality, the quick wit, and the ability to light up a room simply by walking into it.
Even in the face of unimaginable challenges, Paul never stopped being Paul. He fought with every ounce of strength he had, every step of the way. He met each setback with determination, courage, and often a joke or a smile that lifted the spirits of those around him. His resilience was extraordinary, but so too was his strength.
Music brought Paul immense joy, and through his music he gave joy to countless others. He loved to perform, to entertain, and to bring people together. The laughter, friendship, and happiness he created will live on in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
In the coming weeks, a tribute concert will be arranged in his honour, a celebration befitting the happiness he brought to so many through his music and his presence. We hope it will be a chance for friends, family, and fellow musicians to come together, share memories, and celebrate a life that was lived with such spirit and generosity.
My heart is broken, but I am so grateful for every moment we shared, every laugh, every adventure, and every challenge we faced together. The love we shared was the greatest gift of my life.
Sleep peacefully, my darling. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the love, and the memories. You will be missed beyond words and loved beyond measure, always.
