Fantastic news that Aberavon Beach has won the 2026 Seaside Award 🌊🏖️
We’d like to say a massive thank you to all our customers, dog walkers, beach visitors, and local people who pop into the café every week to pick up litter pickers and help keep our beach clean.
It’s great to see people taking pride in Aberavon and doing their bit to keep the seafront looking its best for everyone to enjoy. Every bit of litter picked up makes a difference 💙
A proper community effort — well done everyone 👏
Aberavon Beach wins 2026 Seaside Award 🌊🏖️
Aberavon Beach has been named as one of country’s best beaches by environmental charity Keep Wales Tidy - Cadwch Gymru'n Daclus
which has awarded it the prestigious Seaside Award for 2026.
The blue and yellow flag is only awarded to coastal stretches which are clean, attractive and well-managed.
The annual Seaside Awards play a vital role in protecting precious marine environment across Wales and are recognised around the world as a symbol of quality.
Award-winning beaches must meet and maintain the highest environmental and safety standards.
Cabinet Member for Climate Change and Tourism, Cllr Cen Phillips said: “This is fantastic news for anyone who lives near, or visits, Aberavon Beach. The 3-mile stretch has lots on offer, whether you’re a water-sports fanatic, a keen swimmer or just enjoy a relaxing stroll along the sand.
“It’s no surprise that Aberavon seafront attracts so many visitors and businesses, who can now continue to be reassured by the quality of their surroundings.
“A lot of work goes on behind the scenes to achieve this award, including by Neath Port Talbot Council beach cleaners. I hope people enjoy the area responsibly so that it remains safe and fun for all.”
Keep Wales Tidy’s Chief Executive, Owen Derbyshire said: “These awards recognise high and consistent standards, and we would like to thank staff, volunteers and everyone else at sites across Wales who work so hard to protect and preserve our natural landscape in the face of increasingly challenging circumstances.
“All of these places are beautiful but seeing that flag flying means visitors can be assured that they are clean, safe and well-managed with excellent facilities, too.”
