Four dads are currently walking 123 miles from Bristol to Plymouth in memory of a much-loved Plymouth father and friend.

Wes Salter organised the challenge following the loss of his best friend, Steven Barnes, who tragically took his own life in 2024 aged just 33.

Joined by Dan Heath, Steve Higgins and Al Lip, the group set off from Bristol Hippodrome and are expected to arrive at Plymouth Hoe after four gruelling days of walking, all to raise awareness and funds for men’s mental health charity Andy’s Man Club.

The challenge carries a simple but important message: It’s okay to talk.

So far, the group has already surpassed its fundraising target, but they hope the walk will encourage more conversations around men’s mental health and remind people that support is available, even in the darkest moments.

We’re wishing them all the best for the rest of their journey and a huge welcome when they arrive in Plymouth. 💙
