Could You Be Our Next Chairperson?

The Macmillan Coffee and Gift Shop is looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and committed volunteer to become our next Chairperson.

For over 30 years, our charity has been run by an amazing team of volunteers, raising funds to support the Cornhill Macmillan Centre at Perth Royal Infirmary. Every cup of coffee served, every gift purchased, and every fundraising event helps improve the experience of local people living with cancer and supports the care provided at the Centre.

As our current Chair steps down, we are looking for someone to lead our Board of Trustees and help guide the charity into its next chapter.

As Chairperson, you will:
Lead and support our Board of Trustees.
Chair regular Board meetings and help shape the charity's future.
Work closely with our dedicated volunteers and shop team.
Help ensure the charity is well governed and financially sustainable.
Act as an ambassador for the charity within the local community.

Who are we looking for?
You don't need to have been a Chair before. We are looking for someone who:
Enjoys working with people and bringing teams together.
Has good communication and leadership skills.
Can think strategically while supporting the day-to-day work of the charity.
Is passionate about supporting people affected by cancer in our local community.
Shares our values of kindness, respect, and teamwork.
Experience of charity governance or serving on a committee would be helpful, but enthusiasm and commitment are just as important.

Why Volunteer?
This is a rewarding opportunity to:
Make a genuine difference to people affected by cancer across Perth and Kinross.
Help shape the future of a much-loved local charity.
Work alongside a friendly, dedicated team of volunteers.
Use your skills and experience to support an organisation that has been serving our community for decades.
The role is voluntary, with attendance at regular Board meetings and occasional fundraising events.

If you would like to find out more, we'd love to hear from you. An informal conversation is welcomed before applying.

Meet Jean
Jean has been making Clootie Dumplings for Quarrymill for 26 years now and in that time she reckons she has made over 300!
What she doesn’t know about Clootie Dumpling isn’t worth knowing!
She also regularly washed dishes for us on a Thursday for many years!
Thank you Jean!

As most of you know our coffee shop is run by an army of volunteers who help with so many things both behind the scenes and front of house. Keeping the gift shop stocked , making bunting , keeping our planters looking fresh, waiting tables, washing dishes, making sandwiches, manning the till, laundering tea towels, making cakes etc. And our volunteers mean that every penny of money we make does directly to Cornhill Macmillan Centre in Perth
We thought it’s time you met some of these volunteers so will be featuring them regularly from now.
And if you are inspired to join us email [email protected] to find out how you can get involved!
