🇬🇧 A little detour from the cheese & charcuterie…

We know not everyone who follows our deli pages for foodie heaven is also here for practical shotgun 😂 but bear with us for the next little while because we’re incredibly proud to be following Ed’s journey with Team GB at the 2026 IPSC Shotgun World Shoot in Greece. 🇬🇧🇬🇷

This brilliant photo was shared by North Cotes Butts, one of Ed’s clubs, and features their members who have made the trip to Greece to compete at the World Shoot, with Ed amongst them.

Years of training, travelling, competitions and commitment have gone into getting to this point, so while the competition is actually happening, we’re absolutely going to make the most of sharing a few updates with you!

Then we promise to return you safely to your regularly scheduled cheese, charcuterie, pastries and other delicious things. 🧀🥐😂

For now, a huge GOOD LUCK to Ed, his fellow North Cotes Butts competitors and everyone representing Great Britain. 🇬🇧

**HANDMADE AT PROVENDER BROWN DELICATESSEN**

Well, these have turned out rather beautifully... 😍

Our deli team have been busy making our very own **handmade sausage rolls**, using quality butcher’s sausage meat, herbs and golden flaky pastry.

Proper, generously filled, deli-style sausage rolls, made right here by us. ❤️

And because this is our **very first raft**, we’ve popped them into the deli counter at a **special introductory price** so you can come in, give them a try and, most importantly, **tell us what you think!**

Don’t worry if you miss them this week either. We’ll be making another batch next week and keeping them at the **special introductory price** while we gather your feedback.

🥚✨ QUAIL EGGS HAVE LANDED! ✨🥚

And we know these little beauties are rather coveted…

We now have locally sourced quail eggs available at Provender Brown Delicatessen, and they really are one of those special little deli finds.

Beautifully delicate, delicious and almost too pretty to crack, they’re perfect for salads, canapés, grazing boards, brunches or simply boiled with a little sea salt. 🤍

They’re local, they’re lovely and we have a feeling they might not hang around for long…

🇬🇧✈️ AND THEY’RE OFF! TEAM GB ARE ON THEIR WAY! ✈️🇬🇧

This morning Ed and part of Team GB left Edinburgh Airport as the journey to the 2026 IPSC Shotgun World Shoot officially began!

And we rather love this photo. Team GB lined up beside their easyJet flight, with the pilots getting into the spirit too and giving them a big thumbs up! 👍🇬🇧

A HUGE thank you also to the team at Edinburgh Airport who were absolutely brilliant this morning, making travelling with all the additional competition sporting equipment incredibly efficient and straightforward. When you’re heading overseas to compete on the world stage, that makes a big difference!

For those of us back home at Fig & Fromage Deli in Newport-on-Tay and Provender Brown Deli in Perth, this is the moment it all starts to feel VERY real.

Both of our little independent delis are incredibly proud to be sponsoring Ed as he represents Great Britain, and we know from all the lovely messages, comments and good-luck wishes that so many of our customers are right behind him too. ❤️

🍂 Sundays are for rest & digest…

For the moment, Sunday is a rest day here at Provender Brown Delicatessen, Perth’s oldest deli.

A day for slow mornings, long lunches, good cheese, a little charcuterie, something lovely to drink and absolutely no need to rush anywhere. 🧀🍷

Behind the scenes though, we’re working on growing our lovely deli team so that, well in advance of the festive season, we can hopefully throw open the doors on Sundays too.

Until then, consider this your gentle reminder to stock up on Saturday, build yourself a beautiful little cheeseboard and embrace the slower pace of an autumn Sunday. 🍁

🇬🇧 SUNDAY | GIVING BACK TO THE SPORT 🇬🇧

A couple of pictures of Ed doing what he does as often as life allows… training.

There are a LOT of hours going in behind the scenes as he prepares to represent Great Britain at the 2026 IPSC Shotgun World Shoot, and we’re incredibly proud of the commitment he’s putting into earning the right to wear that Team GB shirt. 🇬🇧

But today looks a little different.

Instead of competing, Ed is spending his Sunday as a Range Officer at a competition.

Something he feels really strongly about is giving back to the sport that has given him so much. Competitions simply couldn’t happen without the people who give up their own time to officiate, help, support and keep everything running safely.

So today the competition shotgun takes a little rest while Ed puts in the hours on the other side of the range.

Training when he can.
Competing when he can.
Volunteering when he can.

And quietly working towards that rather exciting moment when ED MURDOCH 🇬🇧 steps onto the world stage for Team GB.

🍄 CHANTERELLES ARE BACK! 🍄

One of those little seasonal treats that makes us ridiculously happy when it appears in the deli…

Freshly foraged chanterelles are back in stock at Provender Brown! 💛

Beautiful, golden, delicate and wonderfully earthy, these little wild mushrooms don’t hang around for long, either in season or on our shelves.

Keep it simple and let them do the talking. Sauté gently in plenty of butter with a little garlic and herbs, pile onto good sourdough, stir through pasta or serve alongside eggs for a rather fabulous breakfast.
