The Admiral Benbow is one of Cornwall's most extraordinary pubs. Originally serving as an illegal drinking den and smugglers hideout., it retains the original smuggling tunnels, used to run contraband from the quayside straight to the pub's cellar. The free house is known for its long connections to the local community and its famous club nights. Inside, rests one of the largest private collections of nautical memorabilia in the West Cornwall comprising a number of ships figureheads, over a dozen ship's anchors and a collection of life rings from shipwrecks that foundered on the Cornish shores over the years. We serve a full menu from 6 to 9:30 and have a bar stocked with the finest beers, wines and spirits. We serve a wide selection of lagers, ales and ciders in bottles and on draught. We have a small winelist of excellent and well priced wines from aorund the world. Worth explorting is our extensive collection of over forty Rums and Gins. Our classic menu highlights the best of local produce from the sea and the land, including vegetarian or vegan options. Dietary restrictions can be catered for if notice is given (gluten free, nut allergies etc). We are open 5 nights a week for drinks between 17:00 to 23:00 with food available between 18:00 and 21:30.

We’re in it! We are n this year’s CAMRA good b**r guide! Treen's Brewery St Austell Brewery

The Good B**r Guide 2027 lists more than 4,500 pubs across the UK, independently chosen by CAMRA members. But only five pubs have appeared in every single edition since 1974. 🍺

The famous five:

Queen's Head, Newton, Cambridgeshire, where every landlord since 1729 is named on the wall and a stuffed goose called Belinda watches the bar.

Square and Compass in Worth Matravers, Dorset, where drinks come through a hatch and is run by the same family since 1907.

The Star Tavern in Belgravia, tucked down a cobbled mews, rumoured to be where the Great Train Robbery was planned in 1963.

The Buckingham Arms in Westminster, once a hat shop, a pub since the 1720s.

Roscoe Head in Liverpool, named for anti-slavery campaigner William Roscoe, where landlady Carol Ross won a five-year fight to own her pub outright.

Five pubs. 54 editions. Zero missed. 🙌
