Bank holiday weekend and half term food 🥘 🍗 ☕️ 🧁

Food at the Farm this Half Term & Bank Holiday!

We know you love coming to eat lovely things with us while you pick your fruit and veg, and over this upcoming holiday period we’re going be cranking up the BBQ, serving our regular cafe menu, scooping out the ice cream and inviting sourdough pizza and to come and join the party.

It’s going to be scorchio ☀️with temperatures set to rise to 29 degrees!

There will be raspberry coolers, iced-coffee and ice cream aplenty, and shady spots amongst the trees and undercover in the glade.

Strawberries, Asparagus, Artichokes, Rhubarb & Gooseberries are now picking! (Keep an eye out here for the latest updates).

Strawberry update 🍓🍓.

We’ve had another busy weekend of picking, combine this with the colder temperatures overnight and our fields are struggling to recover 😢. We do have some but they will be harder to find, head for the edges and the far end of the tunnels for best strawbs.

Usually a field can bounce back in 24 hours but it’s taking around 48 hours at the moment. Sunshine ☀️ is on the way plus a new field is ripening up so plenty on the way, today and tomorrow will just be a little slower.

Our ticket system opens this weekend and over half term to manage our numbers and picking, please make sure you book for weekends going forward.

open as usual all day. Plus plenty of asparagus, rhubarb, artichokes to pick and the gooseberries are opening very soon, 👀 watch this space.

Strawberry 🍓 update

We have been super busy in our strawberry 🍓 PYO fields today which has been lovely for our first official weekend.

However, we have very limited strawberries for the rest of the day and we will not have any on Sunday 10th May. Our fields will recover quite quickly and we will be back open again for picking strawberries on Monday. We’re now open every Monday!

We do have plenty of rhubarb and asparagus to pick plus our cafe is open all weekend to enjoy the sunshine 🍦☕️🍰

We have plenty of strawberries growing for the summer but it usually starts a little open and close for the first week or so as our crops get going.

From today - pick your own Strawberries! 🍓🍓🍓

It's the moment you've been waiting for - our strawberries have been slowly ripening in the early Spring sunshine and we now have enough ready to open the strawberry PYO today for the first time this year.

No tickets are needed yet, although we will implement PYO ticketing in a few weeks - more on that soon. (tickets can already be bought on our website)

During our strawberry season, the fruit ripens quickly and during busy times, such as weekends and school holidays, we sometimes get picked out and have to close the strawberries at short notice. Keep an eye on social media if you're coming to pick as we will always let you know if we have to close for a bit.

The Rectory Farm strawberry season starts with our Vibrant variety. Vibrant are glossy, conical in shape and very sweet. They are a softer variety of strawberry so they don’t last as well in the fridge, but as we pick and sell them on the same day or next day, this poses no problem. You won’t find this variety in the supermarket for this very reason.
