Being in business right now feels tougher than ever and, if I’m honest, I’m exhausted.

I’ve been in business for over 9 years. I’ve experienced times when things have absolutely thrived, so I often find myself questioning whether I should be transparent about how things really feel, or just carry on pretending everything is as good as it’s always been.

The reality is, small business is tough right now. I’m seeing announcements almost every day from businesses having to close, and every one of them brings sadness and more questions than answers.

There isn’t one reason. Rising business rates, increased costs, changing algorithms and a struggling economy all play their part.

I don’t know what the answer is. I really don’t. I just know that I’m tired of battling.

I’m not even sure what the point of this post is, other than to be honest and share how I’m feeling.

Because behind the pretty pictures and the business posts, there are real people trying their absolute best to keep going. 🤍

I’ve always known just how mindful this beautiful craft can be, but today I received an email that really touched my heart.

Someone shared how lost they had felt at one point, before stumbling across my work and deciding to give my online classes a go. What they didn’t realise was just how therapeutic those buttercream flowers would become, lifting them up when they needed it most.

Because it’s not just about learning to pipe flowers. It’s about being completely immersed in something creative, mindful and therapeutic, a beautiful distraction from the noise of everyday life.
