🐾 Weekend Volunteers Wanted! ☕🍰

Do you have a few hours to spare at the weekend from time to time? We’d love to hear from you!

As a charity, the Armed Forces Community Hub & Café relies on our amazing volunteers to help create a warm, welcoming space for our community. Whether you’re greeting customers, serving drinks, helping in the kitchen, clearing tables, or simply having a friendly chat, every volunteer makes a real difference.

We’re particularly looking for volunteers who can help on Saturdays and Sundays, even if it’s only for a few hours each month.

Volunteering is a great way to:
⭐ Meet new people
⭐ Gain experience and confidence
⭐ Support your local community
⭐ Be part of a friendly and supportive team

🐾🍦 HARLEY HAS SOMETHING TO SAY… 🍦🐾

Harley says that just because it’s October, that doesn’t mean it’s too cold for ice cream! 😋

And quite frankly… we’re not going to argue with him! 😂

🍰☕ A LITTLE SLICE OF HOMEMADE GOODNESS… ☕🍰

There’s something wonderfully comforting about a good old-fashioned fruit tea loaf — and this one is made using a Mary Berry recipe. ❤️

The dried fruit is soaked in tea, giving it plenty of time to plump up and soak in all that lovely flavour before it goes into the cake. ☕️🍇

Then there’s that gorgeous zesty hit of lemon from the freshly grated lemon zest, which cuts through the sweetness and gives the loaf a deliciously fresh, citrusy flavour. 🍋

It’s soft, fruity, wonderfully moist and absolutely packed with flavour — the perfect excuse for a proper cup of tea and a slice of homemade cake. 🫖❤️

And yes… it’s homemade right here at the café, because sometimes the simple things really are the best. ❤️

🎄✨ BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND – A SECOND CHRISTMAS FUSED GLASS WORKSHOP! ✨🎄

Our first Christmas workshop with Twisted Glass by Sandra sold out SO quickly that we’ve decided to run a second workshop! 🎅🏼❤️

🍰🚨 CAKE COUNTER ALERT! 🚨🍰

This morning our cake counter is packed as always with homemade cakes, bakes and sweet treats — all ready and waiting for you! 😍

And we already know there’s going to be one particular cake that gets people VERY excited…

💛 THE JAMAICAN GINGER LOAF! 💛

Honestly, we’ve never known a cake cause quite so much excitement! 😂

The moment people see Jamaican Ginger Loaf written on the cake dome, we hear:

👀 “Ooooh, have you got the ginger cake?”
😍 “I LOVE that one!”
🙋‍♀️ “Can I have a slice to take home too?”

And quite frankly… we don’t blame you! 😋

So if you’re a Jamaican ginger loaf fan, get in early because once it’s gone, it’s gone!

And of course, there’ll be plenty of other homemade goodies to choose from too. 🧁🍰

Our lovely Lesley has been busy baking her proper homemade sausage rolls, and they’ll be fresh and ready for you this morning!

Made with delicious ingredients and plenty of love — none of those boring supermarket sausage rolls here! 😉

Perfect with a cuppa, as a quick lunch or to take home for later… although we can’t promise they’ll make it that far! 😂
