Orient Chinese Take Away Newquay

🚧 MORE ROADWORKS = MORE TRAFFIC! 🚧

OK… there’s another major set of roadworks going on at Nansledan Estate for the next few weeks 😩

Yes, Nansledan is about 2 miles away from the takeaway shop, so you’d think, “Surely that won’t affect our deliveries?”

Nope… I’m afraid that’s not the case. 😂

We already have the one-way system on Cliff Road because of the cycle lane works — and what happened? The double roundabout by the Boating Lake has taken the knock-on effect. During school runs and work runs, getting through that area is already tedious!

So if you think the Nansledan roadworks aren’t going to affect our delivery service… I beg you to think again. 🫣

There will no doubt be a knock-on effect across Henver Road, Trevenson Road, the A392 and even towards the Goldings area as everyone finds alternative routes.

I’m not moaning — promise! 😂 I just want to ask for a little extra patience while all these roadworks are going on.

We want your food to reach you quickly just as much as you do — and we want you to be able to sit down and enjoy it while it’s lovely and hot!

Please bear with us if deliveries take a little longer than usual. Our amazing delivery team will battle the traffic, diversions and roadworks and get to you as quickly and safely as they possibly can. 🚗💨

Thank you, as always, for your patience and understanding. 🙏🏼💛

A BIG THANK YOU FROM TEAM ORIENT 💛🙏🏼

Not gonna lie… it’s been quite a stressful week for the whole team! 😅

Our amazing delivery team has been battling the chaotic queues and diversions. Our lovely FOH team has been stressing about whether we can get your orders out on time…
And I’ve been stressing behind the scenes, adapting and trying to plan our delivery time slots around the traffic!

As much as we prepared ourselves for the roadworks on Cliff Road, there’s only so much planning you can do when there are currently 19 sets of roadworks within 5 miles of Newquay — including 3 road closures, 7 sets of temporary traffic lights and 9 other roadworks! 🤯

But this isn't a complaint. Like I’ve said before, we all have a job to do. We can’t control the roadworks, but we can control how we adapt to them.

So instead, this post is simply to say THANK YOU 💛

Thank you to our delivery customers for your patience and understanding when the traffic means we're running a little behind.

Thank you to everyone who has battled the diversions and queues and still made the effort to come and collect your orders from us.

And, as always, a massive thank you to my hardworking Team Orient — for adapting, problem-solving and doing everything you can to keep us going. I genuinely couldn't do it without my team 🫶🏼

I refuse to let a crazy amount of roadworks or the current stress levels defeat us!!

Because I know I have an incredible team who always have my back, and an amazing bunch of customers who continue to support The Orient, even when getting to us feels like completing an obstacle course! 😂🚧

And for that, I’ll always be incredibly thankful. 💛

Hopefully we'll all come out the other side with a little more patience… and a lot fewer temporary traffic lights! 😂🙏🏼

Much love,
Jess & Team Orient 💛

📣 Cliff Road & Station Approach businesses need your support! 💛

As many of you will already be aware, the Mid Cornwall Metro works begin today, bringing some significant changes to traffic around Cliff Road for the next few months.

The Orient is located just off Cliff Road, on Station Approach, so these roadworks will inevitably have a big impact on us and our neighbours, including Car Vogue, Robo and Tai Sing.

I’m not going to comment on the cycle lanes themselves, as we all have our own opinions on the project. But one thing is certain — whether we agree with it or not, the improvements are going ahead.

So rather than complain about something we can’t change, we’re going to focus on what we can do: adapt, find solutions and minimise the impact as much as possible 💪🏼

🚗 COLLECTING YOUR ORDER?
The railway station car park currently offers 30 minutes of free parking, so if you’re collecting your takeaway from us, you can still park there for free as usual.

Just remember to allow yourself a little extra travelling time due to the traffic and diversions, particularly if you’re coming from Henver Road/St Columb Minor side of town.

🚙 DON’T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE TRAFFIC? WE DELIVER!

Please don’t forget that we have a fantastic and reliable home delivery service, thanks to our amazing team of drivers! 🙌🏼

So if you’d rather avoid the traffic and diversion altogether, let us bring your Chinese straight to your door. 🥡🥢

Most importantly, please continue to support all the brilliant local businesses along Cliff Road AND Station Approach throughout these works.

The next few months may be challenging for all of us, particularly as we head into the quieter time of year, but your continued support genuinely makes a difference.

We’re still here. We’re still open. And we’re still serving you as usual! 💛

Thank you, as always, for supporting us and our neighbours. Please keep supporting local. 🫶🏼

Update.
Fin would like to thank everyone for their generosity and all the shares and comments on this post that made it possible.
Due to this, he has been able to replace his bike.
So a massive thank you to everyone❤️
Showing that decent people exist and communities come together.
We don’t know for sure. But from what we were told the bike was out of the county the same day.
Bike theft is a huge issue. Even with cameras and locks in place.
Thank you Newquay and beyond. 🤗

🚨 STOLEN BIKE – PLEASE SHARE 🚨

UPDATE!

It’s been a few hours now and not likely to get a good result. The staff at Oceanside are going to donate all tips to replace the bike. We’ve had some lovely offers from you guys to help towards that. If anyone would like to donate to the bike fund it would be greatly received. Let’s show him hard work is rewarded and what being part of a team and a community is all about.

This bike belongs to one of our 16-year-old kitchen porters, who worked incredibly hard all last summer to save up and buy it. 💔

This morning, it was stolen from his workplace.

Let's make this bike TOO HOT TO HANDLE. If you see it being ridden, offered for sale, or hear anything about it, please let us or the police know. Even the smallest bit of information could help. Reported to police - crime reference number available on request.

VIDEO IN COMMENTS.

Please SHARE this post as far and wide as possible. Together, let's help get this young lad's bike back where it belongs. 🙏
