The Gresley Arms has sat proudly at the top of Alsagers Bank for over 200 years with fantastic views from the Beer Garden and in the dining rooms. In the near distance Bateswood Country Park perfect for walking, bike or horse riding with a beautiful lake and nature reserve. Further afield to the left the Shropshire Hills including The Long Mynd and The Wrekin to the right is Runcorn Power Station

and Liverpools two Cathedrals ( it is said on a clear day with good binoculars you can see Blackpool Tower ) look straight ahead beyond the castles of Beeston and Peckforton to The Berwyn Mountains, Exclusham Mountains Llangollen and beyond.Of course there's a lot in between and the resident telescope is a great help. If walking is your thing The Gresley Arms sits between Bateswood and Apedale country parks Bateswood is fairly flat so ideal for a leisurely stroll, Apedale Country Park has more challenging signposted walks through the woods it also has a mining museum and visitors centre, we welcome walkers, dogs and children looking for refresments after a long walk. Our Philosophy is simple, we serve quality drinks specialising in Cask Ale at a fair price in a friendly atmosphere with a real fire in the winter and fantastic beer garden in the summer, food is available, again at a fair price and our dining room has the best views in Staffordshire. Our Pub has four individual rooms, a traditional Bar with slate floor and real fire, old pictures showing the history of the area adorn the walls. A comfortable lounge perfect for conversation and our newly refurbished Top room for Private Dining and Parties. The dining room feels a special place to eat with comfortable surroundings and fantastic views, our Chef provides Fine Food using Fresh Local Ingredients.

It’s Monday! It’s bank holiday! 😄 We are somehow still standing after another incredible Gres Fest (3!) yesterday 😮‍💨 (full review to come!), so come on down and see us we’re serving food until 5.15pm on this windy and wet bank holiday Monday 😎 🍽️

Gres Fest 3 - 1 DAY TO GO!! 🙌🏻

It’s crazy to think it’s already been a year since Gres Fest 2, but here we are again! What an incredible day it was and so many of you excited for the 3rd instalment of our bank holiday Sunday festival. Unfortunately the weather God’s are not on our side this year but the party must go on! 🎸

Live acts will start outside but with the rain forecast from 2pm(ish) we will continue the music inside thereafter, first up in the bar then moving into the larger restaurant area until late!

Food will be served all day as normal plus fresh pizzas after the Sunday menu in the evening until 10pm 🍕 🍽️

The times for the live acts are now as follows (all approx and subject to change)

1pm - Martin Podmore
2.30pm - Harmonic Fall Duo Matt Gannon & Phoebe
4.30pm - Wilson and Lorenz
6pm - C&C Duo
7.30pm - Alisha Jean - Vocalist
9.00pm - 3 Minute Warning Band
