A little thank you to the customer who decided last night that the sign next to our log burner clearly didn’t apply to them.
The sign does say:
“Please do not put fuel on the fire. If the fire needs topping up, ask a member of staff.”
Unfortunately, somebody chose to ignore this, opened the log burner, overfilled it and broken the glass in the process.
What is particularly disappointing is that whoever did it then didn’t have the decency to tell a member of staff.
So, thank you very much to whoever thought they knew better.
At a time when pubs and hospitality businesses are already dealing with ever-increasing costs and pressures, having to pay for completely avoidable damage caused by somebody ignoring a very clear request just makes things that little bit more difficult.
If anybody who was in the snug last night saw what happened, or knows who was responsible, we would be very grateful if you could let us know privately.
