🌖 The total eclipse is nothing new to regulars at The Black Lion! The oldest pub in Nantwich has witnessed its fair share of celestial events.

There were three total solar eclipses visible from Britain during the 1600s, a fascinating period when people were beginning to look at these extraordinary events through the eyes of science rather than superstition.

By 1675, King Charles II had founded the Royal Observatory at Greenwich, helping astronomers predict and study the movements of the heavens.

Incredible to think The Black Lion was already welcoming customers while all this was unfolding 🍺

Nantwich Food Festival has all the ingredients for success with its popular food history walking tours extended this year to include new venues.

We're delighted to be taking part in Nantwich Food Festival Food History Walking Tours again this year!

It's an opportunity to learn more about Nantwich's food heritage taking in venues across town including our neighbours The Rolling Pin Bakehouse and Moss the Cafe here on Welsh Row.

Join landlord Darren to learn more about the history of The Black Lion while enjoying Weetwood - Cheshire Beers and Spirits tastings and delicious nibbles.
