Oh what a difference a turn makes. Last time we took the wee man to Porty (wee man being RE grandson) we took a right turn and eneded up at Newhaven for a disappointing fish and chips which really upset some people.

Even more so as I had ordered cod for a change, that seemed to be the final straw for some especially the man who ranted at me not to come up here expecting cod WE EAT HADDOCK. I think he thought I was a travel blogger or something when 10s on the timeline would have shown years of Edinburgh stuff but people do like to be outraged at this, whatever this is.

So today we turned left along Porty high street, we cruised past the St Andrews which a lot of you recommended and on into Musselburgh where we luckily got parked nearly outside a just opened for the day, East Coast.

So, if you are wondering, it's haddock. It's the fish of choice, no cod here, probably fed up with the baying lynch mobs outside waiting on people ordering cod. Fish, chips, mushy peas and tartare sauce. Don't worry, broon sauce was also available.

It was amazing. The fish could have been the best I've had, maybe even better than Anstruther. Batter was perfect and taste... it was another level for a battered fish. Chips were good as well. I think it was £18 which for this quality felt ok. I'd rather pay £18 and love it than £14 takeaway and have someone tell me to give my head a wobble when I thought it was average.

Will I go back? Oh yes, 100%. Worth the visit to Musselburgh alone. Go there.

I'll now remove my food reviewer hat for now and go back to being a photographer tomorrow if that's ok?
