🌱 🍋 Elderflower cordial 🍋 🌱
As with everything here at Barrow St, we love homemade and seasonal produce, so now is the perfect time for us to make our delicious elderflower cordial. Renowned for its sweet, floral, & slightly fruity aroma, this flower is widely used in culinary creations like cordials, teas, and even traditional herbal medicine! It’s best to pick them on a warm, dry day when the flowers are fully open, as this is when their pollen and perfume are at their strongest and will give you the best results for whatever you’re making! We didn’t pick all of the elderflower we found, as the blossom will turn into elderberries later in the summer. (We’ll be back for those!)
To make the cordial syrup its self, it’s very simple: you soak the fresh flowers in sugar water and lemon, leave to soak for 24 hours and then drain!
Who’s tried a delicious glass of elderflower already?
