Grown in Britain and picked at peak ripeness, our blueberries are crafted to deliver a perfect balance of sweetness, juiciness and crispness 🫐

That silvery, dusty coating you find on the berries is a natural bloom creating a protective wax layer that keeps them fresh. Rinsing too early dulls their colour and shortens their shelf life – so be sure to only wash what you need!

We recently donated a set of chef whites embroidered with the Brakes Scotland logo to House of Gods Glasgow, one of Paul Ritchie's customers and, according to The Times, "Merchant City's sexiest hangout" πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³

Great to see the new whites in action, modelled by Thomas, Head Chef at House of Gods!

Christmas menu planning underway at Newhouse! πŸŽ„β›„

Scott Linich recently welcomed his customer, The Courtyard Bar, Kitchen & Rooms, to our Newhouse depot to start planning their Christmas menu.

The session included a tasting with Development Chef Michael Croy, insights from Fresh Meat Specialist Matt Coulter, and a tour of the facilities with Gary Phillips.

The team sampled a selection from across the Brakes Scotland range, including some new meat products which went down particularly well.

With the menu now priced and Christmas bookings already coming in, they're getting set for a busy festive season! πŸŽ‰

Last month, Blair Atholl Jamborette (official) (Scouts Scotland) welcomed 500 Scottish Explorer Scouts alongside Scouts from around the world for its 40th Scottish International Patrol Jamborette πŸ•οΈπŸ₯Ύ

During a visit to the camp, Graeme Luke kindly gave us a behind-the-scenes tour of the operation, showing how the team received, stored and sorted the high-volume deliveries needed throughout the event.

Brakes Scotland supplied food for prepared meals, as well as ingredients for the meals Scouts cooked together in their groups. A Brakes refrigerated truck also remained on site throughout the camp, providing essential additional freezer storage for the team.

A great insight into the huge amount of planning and teamwork that goes on behind the scenes to feed hundreds of Scouts during their time at Blair Atholl!

Bravo! 🌟

The Bravo Awards recognise colleagues who go the extra mile while demonstrating our Sysco values.

Congratulations to Marc Williamson, who has received the Newhouse Annual Bravo Award for Distribution.

While there were many deserving nominees, Marc stood out for his commitment to both the operation and those around him.

During a particularly challenging day, Marc volunteered to cancel his planned holiday and cover a delivery route, ensuring our customers received their orders.

Marc also demonstrated exceptional compassion outside of work. After noticing someone in distress on a flyover, he turned back to check on them, stayed with them, and helped ensure they received the care and support they needed.

Marc's actions embody what it means to Drive Together, Define Excellence and Grow Responsibly while remaining Rooted in Integrity and Committed to Inclusion.

A truly deserving winner of this year's Bravo Award, here pictured with Ali Maxwell.

Meet the Team – Sally MacArthur, Your Way Fresh Produce Specialist (Part 2) πŸ‹πŸŒΏ

Sometimes it's the smallest ingredients that make the biggest difference, especially when they’re from Fresh Direct.

In Part 2, Sally shares one of her favourite products from our fresh produce range – lemon thyme – and explains how a simple ingredient swap can elevate a dish.

She also talks about her passion for growers and shares what she'd do if she won the lottery: giving every child the opportunity to visit a farm and discover where their food comes from.

Last month, Brakes Scotland donated a selection of snacks and refreshments to help keep walkers fuelled during the Midday Walk organised by St. Andrew's Hospice πŸ‘£

The event brought together 150 walkers and raised an incredible Β£33k to support patients and families cared for by the hospice.

Pictured are Lorrett McCutcheon from St Andrews Hospice with Brakes Scotland team members Karen Clark, Gary Phillips, Martin McCardle and Ali Maxwell at our Newhouse depot.

Well done to everyone who took part πŸ€—
