Two dates for the diary if you're into vinyl: the Morecambe Record Fair returns to the Arndale Centre on Saturday 19th September and Saturday 14th November, both running from 9am until 4pm.

Expect thousands of LPs, 45s and more, with regular traders and new faces bringing everything from rare collectables to bargain boxes. Whether you're buying, selling, swapping or just having a dig through the crates, there's plenty to keep collectors busy.

The Arndale Centre has coffee and food outlets on site, plus a large car park right next door, so it's easy to make a morning of it.

Arndale Centre, Market Street, Morecambe, LA4 5DH. Free entry.

Get the dates in the diary and come and have a browse.

Morecambe-Based SoPoet Invites People to Slow Down on Social Media

A new website founded in Morecambe, SoPoet (www.sopoet.co.uk), is offering people an alternative to the endless scroll of mainstream social media. Members pair a single photograph with a short poem of no more than seven lines to create a "poetgraph" — a considered pairing of words and image, shared to inspire others. SoPoet is entirely free to join, and anyone can sign up at www.sopoet.co.uk. A Google Play app is also in the pipeline, with the founders hoping to launch it in the coming months.

There's no algorithm and no infinite feed. Likes are called "sparks," comments are "glosses," and poems that happen to land on a recognised form — haiku, tanka, cinquain or the Fib — are quietly awarded a badge. The platform is currently in its testing phase, and new members are encouraged to try it out and leave feedback at www.sopoet.co.uk/feedback. Everyone who joins during this stage receives the title "Inkling," marking them as one of the platform's founding members.

SoPoet was founded by brothers Warren and Lee Mortimer, alongside Miogelato owner and Morecambe BID chair David Waddington. Warren, a Morecambe-based poet who has lived in the district for ten years, works at Lancaster University. Lee, a lecturer and fluid dynamicist at the University of Leeds, built the platform and is its technical driving force.

"SoPoet began life as a remedy for the hustle and bustle of social media," says Warren. "We believe in taking the slow and steady approach — what better way than by matching your best words with your sharpest images?"

Lee adds: "It doesn't matter whether you capture the world with a Nikon or a Nokia — this is a platform for anyone who dares to imagine."

To join SoPoet, visit www.sopoet.co.uk. For anonymous feedback, visit www.sopoet.co.uk/feedback. You can follow their social media @
