Introducing our final wine for LOW Margate this weekend from .

I Wish I Had A Choice

Sometimes you don’t get to choose. Nature decides.
Bacchus is England’s #1 grape.

Love it or hate it, Bacchus is here to stay. And this was its year. When Margate Wine first started working with Bacchus in 2024 (Possibly the worst harvest on record in the UK), it’s all that nature provided after a cold wet, season.

Normally they would have turned our nose up at Bacchus, but they fell in love with it and in 2025, actively chose to work with it again. Now it is one of their favourite varities and makes a delcious skin-contact wine.

They get theirs from Woolton Farm in Canterbury - a family farm that’s been in the Woolton family for a 100 years, growing apples, fruit and now, a small parcel of vines. Foot stomped, fermented on skins for 10 days, and left for 6 months in glass demijohn. Think baked apples, a bit of spice and hint of the grape’s classic elderflower scent. Textured & a little wild!

They worked with their good friend and local artist Ellie Tate Tate on the artwork for this label, meant to mimic that orange glow from a Margate sunset.

Come on down this weekend and try it out - it’s just £5 a glass of wine for all Low wristband holders!

Introducing our second pick for LOW Margate from

Sometimes We Get Lucky 🍷

This is an experiment that turned out right...
A Pinot Meunier - a juicy, light, chilled red that found its way almost by accident. Not too serious, easy to get on with. Nice, chilled, summer sipper.

Foot stomped, macerated and fermented on skins, then 6 months in glass demijohn created from biodynamic grapes from Tillingham in Rye.

Only 70 bottles were made - the smallest run from yet. Stick it in the fridge, crack it in the sun, slightly hungover or any time of day.

Wild ferment. Vegan. Unfined. Unfiltered.

The artwork for this bottle is by local Margate artist , whose you’ll recognise from her colourful posters and bold words around town.

We can’t wait to share this with you and to see you for our event with Aaryan and Jack of Margate Wines at 1pm on Sunday for a special discussion & wine tasting event - all are welcome, just swing by!

First up from for LOW Margate …

It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time
This is a sparkling skin-contact Bacchus - foot-stomped, fermented on skins for 10 days, pressed, then left to do its thing for 6 months in a glass demijohn.

Bottled the following spring Ă  la Col Fondo method.
The skin contact gives this one texture and a little wildness, while the Col Fondo method keeps a gentle fizz alive in the bottle, with natural sediment forming as it goes.

Small production, only 190 bottles made and best shared with friends, and it pairs beautifully with fish & chips.

We can’t wait to introduce you to our delicious selection of wines for over the coming days - keep your eyes peeled for more information on each of our picks!

Why Margate? Because it’s ready.

The town already has a thriving food and drink culture, a creative spirit, and a steady stream of visitors from London.

public sampling was at Low Margate wine fair last summer and Pour Choices at the Tate Modern last autumn, where they were sampled by 400-500 people and met with incredibly positive feedback and enquiries for sales.

Margate Wine are now getting ready for this year’s wine fair with their official launch and first commercial release.

People are curious, excited – and thirsty.

Margate Wine believes in the urban winery model. And they believe it can thrive here in Margate.

Join them next Sunday 14th at 1pm, here at The Shakespeare for a Q&A discussion, followed by wine tasting. Bring any questions you may have and enjoy local natural wines!
