If you've never tried my Portuguese-inspired Trifle Tarts, what are you waiting for!?! Inspired by the famous Portuguese custard tart, Pastel de Nata, our vegan version adds elements of the traditional British trifle. A crisp, cinnamon swirled puff pastry cup, filled with a sherry coconut custard, and topped with strawberry compote.

My zaalouk potatoes are a side to the new Rose Harissa Wellington on my menu, but they're good enough to eat on their own! If you've never tried zaalouk before, it's a delicious Moroccan sauce made from aubergine and tomato, slow cooked for at least an hour with herbs and spices and then mashed to make a beautifully creamy and tangy sauce.

NEW MENU ITEM FOR EASTER!

To celebrate the long Easter weekend, I've added a special new dish to our menu - a Rose Harissa Wellington! Made of veg, quinoa and pistachios, with a lovely kick of rose harissa, and enveloped in flaky puff pastry, served with baby new potatoes in an aubergine and tomato zaalouk sauce.

It’s been a tough few weeks! Not only did my whole family get Covid, but I had two weeks where everything tasted like cardboard. I nearly cancelled this week’s orders after having already closed shop for two weeks, but thankfully my taste is back now and I can’t wait to get cooking for you all again!

One of my aims with Homegrown is to reduce food waste (and all other waste too!) and to use seasonal ingredients as much as possible. My Kimchi Bubble and Squeak is great as it uses pickled radish and fermented cabbage to preserve the main ingredients, and then everything else is seasonal veg like carrot, swede and potato. Even better though is that it’s absolutely delicious! Happy pancake day! Here at Homegrown HQ our favourite type of pancake is 'too many' and our favourite topping is 'too much of everything' (this picture was taken before I drowned the whole thing in maple syrup and chocolate sauce).

With two young kids I usually find myself with some ageing bananas that need using up, so I often use Lucy Watson's recipe for banana pancakes, they're so moist and thick and delicious and a great way to avoid food waste.
